FCA Consultation Update - Equality Impact Assessment

Hi,

If anyone is interested I got a copy of the EIA from the FCA (within the required timeframe!) which they conducted in regard to their
consultation on gender representation on company boards.

I've not seen one of these before and I am surprised at how shallow it is - maybe that's normal. Anyway, if anyone wants to see it, let me know - I don't know if I can/am allowed to upload the file on here.

I'd be very interested please!

OP You could send it to sexmatters and Fair play for women to put on the websites and link to them

You can't upload files on here, but you could post screenshots or copy and paste some of the contents.

Other EIAs I've seen have been pretty poor. People doing them generally don't seem to understand that the impact on all the protected characteristics have to be considered.

NancyDrawed · 16/11/2021 20:25

I'm interested! Are there any keywords I could use to search for it on the what do they know website?

timeisnotaline · 16/11/2021 20:33

That’s so depressing if it’s crap, from the fca Sad. And such a clear example of how pathetic these words in speeches about we are not doing enough on gender balance so we are proposing these significant changes, but no we are not actually capable of spending 10 minutes thinking about how they impact women, the main group of people we are telling the public we will improve the state of things for in the industry we regulate. Yes please to sharing it with fair play for women and sex matters, I can’t wait to see their take.

BuffysBigSister · 16/11/2021 21:05

I feel like I have over-promised and under-delivered as I can't figure out how to share it! I'll do some work on it and if all else fails I'll just type up a summary. Won't take long - it feels like they repeated the same phrase all though the document! I have sent to Sex Matters too.

Do let us know how you get on. I'd be interested in a copy if you can manage it. Thanks

I see the "Next steps" on the FCA website for CP21/24 have been pushed back from late 2021 to early 2022. The FCA board met yesterday so I surmise that either proposals weren't ready for board approval or the board asked for more work to be done. Good news in that it gives time for a bit more lobbying.
