@WingsOfGahan

Private Eye is so good.
Yes they have always been willing to expose dodgy dealings across the political spectrum.

Love Private Eye! One of the regular features, "From The Message Boards", is a parody internet forum, a seething nest of grotesqueries.

For years there have been occasional appearances by "Tim The House Husband" in the "Message Boards", always singing the praises of his obnoxious woke brats and ending, "Am I wrong to be proud?"

The worst of his horrid brood is Poppy, who used to "identify as recreationally trans". I was rather disappointed when Tim announced that she had "transitioned to Pip and gone vegan".

I used to think that "identifying as recreationally trans" was very funny and excellent satire but that development made me think that it was a pretty realistic trajectory.

It is very unusual for Private Eye running-joke characters to age in real time, unless they are based on actual people, like the Royals in the Short Story Specials by "Dame Sylvie Krin".

Pip doesn't get so much air time when Tim does pop up now. So I wondered if the "From the Message Boards" author had inadvertently painted him/herself into a corner: it would be gruesome making satire out of a young woman struggling with a binder or having her breasts amputated.

Some of the recent, disturbing videos by TT Exulansic made me think of Poppy/Pip, morphing from the spoiled , "recreationally trans" child Poppy, into a self-obsessed, censoriously vegan, "transman".

I just hope the guy who is always complaining about discrimination against "consensual cannibalism" doesn't escape off the pages next Confused

😂 I might get dh a 3 month subscription for Christmas, see if he likes it…. He’s forrin so may go whoosh. And if he doesn’t, I will. Could do with some lighthearted humour around serious issues….

borntobequiet · 12/11/2021 06:22

I love From the Message Boards, some of it is scarily accurate.

"Anyone come near my girls with a binder I swear I'll do time." Family Man

Beowulfa · 12/11/2021 10:11

I thought the exact phrase for House Husband Tim's offspring is "self identifies as recreationally trans gender" but might be wrong. Their third child is called Remain.

That parody column must be the easiest thing to submit each fortnight; the internet just writes it for you...

yes, one of my favourite bits.

We've had a subscription for 30 years now, I love it.

Jux · 12/11/2021 10:57

It's a brilliant publication.

Ah I love Private Eye and have been reading on and off for years since I used to knab my dad's as a teenager. I adore Heir of Sorrows.
