What union can I join that isn’t totally beholden to Stonewall or similar?

Just as the title says really, I want to join a union but all of the larger general ones that would be relevant for my work are enthralled with the Stonewall ethos or similar. I would like to join one that would not have a complete meltdown at the prospect of supporting me if I needed to challenge the overly zealous wokeness and pronoun-zombie mentality and actions that are emerging there. Any suggestions please?

@Maray1967 I resigned from UCU a couple of weeks ago giving the same reason in the drop down (as there was no free text option) after 20 years as a member. I'm very surprised no-one has contacted me (even for a bit of "re-education") as I was rather looking forward to telling them why.

No idea what to do now though.

Same here, Redrosie. No option to write anything - I can only presume they do t want to read what those resigning have to say.
Astounding. When you leave most other things - eg insurance company - you are asked why, and what they can do to attract your custom back in future years.
For a trade union not to bother asking why long -standing members - or any members for that matter - are dissatisfied actually tells me all I need to know. I should have left a good while ago.

Unhappy long standing UCU member here too 😕. The betrayal of Kathleen Stock horrified me.

I am hoping there is a GC women's group within the union... but also considering leaving.

Any of you who are still in the UCU, there is a UCU GC Women’s Group.

For more info, if you are on Twitter DM Fiona44444

If you are not on Twitter, DM me here on Mumsnet and I’ll get in touch with Fiona for you.

Whether you are in a TU or not, employers and unions normally follow ACAS Codes of Practice and there is good information on the ACAS site.

@Rainbowshine I've just returned to this thread and saw you posted:

" I have been told this morning that a colleague has raised a grievance about my “disturbing reluctance to use and promote the use of pronouns to the point where they (I) seem to be flatly refusing to engage with the inclusive behaviour expected of employees”.

So rather than get on with my job I now have to spend time dealing with this.

And yes, the union has said that they will represent the colleague who raised the grievance, they said I would have to find a willing and available representative from outside of the work branch if I want support myself."

This so appalling and I just wanted to check you're alright and managed to get support and advice.

The Women's Trade Union Federation (WTUF) update - see thread here:

I'm also in Prospect. I only joined because there was an anonymous informal complaint made about me at work to HR because I wore a woman definition lanyard (not with my work pass on, it had a little pendant on it). I was told the organisation, Standing for Women, was perceived as transphobic and as this had upset one person I was requested not to wear it, the threat being if I carried on wearing it it would go to a formal complaint.

@Bosky I will DM you about the the GC Prospect to put me in touch with Fiona.

ACAS is captured, but I took the risk that my union would still have to defend me.

Another who has left UCU. I couldn't stay after I saw how Kathleen stock was treated. I would love to know how many of us there are (I know several).
