I don't see that linked yet:

I can't tell from the article- is the £600k just the central education ministry or is it across all the schools and unis etc? It's a shocking waste of money either way but less so if it's spread out.

jclm · 06/11/2021 07:17

The £600k has been spent by DoE for what looks like civil servants' training and policy refinement. Schools and universities are funded separately

KittenKong · 06/11/2021 07:19

Training them to break the law and listen to a lobby group, who advised them incorrectly. And these people are supposed to make the grown up decisions for us all?

MidsomerMurmurs · 06/11/2021 07:26

@DidoDino

As an aside, I love how 'gender identity' is increasingly being put in quotes in these articles. I like to imagine there's an accompanying eye-roll too. Hmm
I’ve noticed that too. Good!
KittenKong · 06/11/2021 07:44

Maybe it’s running out of steam. I think it may be still trundling along on the US (some very high profile folx over there - mostly male born I notice).

@MarshmallowSwede

Well they have run a great scam haven’t they?!
Scam is a good word. I will be using it frequently. The Great Stonewall Scam.

I can feel a letter to my MP coming on...

WarriorN · 06/11/2021 07:48

Send is woefully under funded as are the arts.

Absolutely fuming.

KittenKong · 06/11/2021 07:49

However - my sister from woke-central is absolutely spitting over the gender woo going on over there. She was a teacher for years and had daughters and grand daughters. Boy was she angry!

I wasn’t sure what she would think - so I didn’t bring the topic up (she is a bit ‘hey guys, let’s all discuss this’ California girl type) but - wow.

She was over for a holiday - then I tried to walk her over a rainbow zebra. She is visually impaired (and very sweary). I must tell her that these fancy crossings have been halted in London...

WarriorN · 06/11/2021 07:49

And I mention the arts particularly as thats an area pupils with additional needs can both excel in and also thoroughly enjoy.

FUMING

FrancescaContini · 06/11/2021 07:49

@RepentMotherfucker

I'll.never understand how we ended up in a situation where organisations - and government bodies - paid a lobbying group to lobby them.
No, me neither 🤬
KittenKong · 06/11/2021 07:49

(Woke central USA)

@LobsterNapkin

This kind of thing always strikes me as a good example of why, when we are told we should be doing this or that training or conference or drill, we should always ask - is there any actual evidence that there is value in this?

My workplace is about to do unconscious bias training - a scam if I ever saw one. Also rather expensive. But it is all the rage in management circles now, so it is "a priority for us." No one said - does this money we are spending and the time we are spending actually improve anything for anyone? Had they asked they'd have found the answer was, no.

It's the same with SW. Most workplaces can figure out how to be respectful and try and responsive to their actual employees input. They don't need to pay thousands a year to have some lobby group tell them how to do it.

Further question for management re bogus training is the "compared to what question" e.g. "how effective is this form of training compared to giving everyone some written information on the subject from a reliable source and encouraging them to inform themselves, then discussing it at a team meeting? Also what are the qualifications of these trainers? Are they psychologists with published research in this field we could read?
Whatwouldscullydo · 06/11/2021 08:39

And yet our kids sit in overcrowded crumbling classrooms while they have to beg for donations of spare clothes and toilet paper .

Nice to know what the priorities are

Grumpyosaurus · 06/11/2021 10:18

FUCKING HELL
And here we are buying things out of our own pockets to fill in the gaps. Last year, glue sticks because we ran out mid-year. I know a TA who works in YR. She hasn't two pennies to rub together, and she always makes sure that there are spare pants and socks in case the tots wet themselves. She buys these herself.

And those gravy-train riding dickheads have swallowed up 600k.

I used to rage about the likes of Amazon not coughing up the tax £££ but I'll add Stonewall to the rage.

WarriorN · 06/11/2021 10:40

10 years ago you could easily claim anything back you'd spent for school and tbe budgets for subjects were around 3 times what they are now.

Now teachers and Tas actually accept they have to spend a fortune of their own money on resources and even breakfast for children sometimes. It boils my piss we are in this position and yet all that money spent on fucking pronoun training etc?

By the way, the NHS also channels money into lgbt schemes that directly go into schools and youth clubs.

ChristinaXYZ · 06/11/2021 15:43

What a waste. and all the money that individual schools spend across the whole country. And Academy trusts/Local authorities probably on top for managing their central staff. And if you think of everything that schools buy in - all those costs being bumped up by those organisations and businesses being member of Stonewall perhaps - all the cleaning and catering and security and building maintenance, book and office supplies, in-service teacher training, probably all fair sized businesses if they're bidding of school contracts and many probably buying this kind of training for their own staff. All this means a colossal and replicating pile of waste -all tax payers money - and repeated indoctrination of staff and students.
