Nolan Padcast -BBC R4 Feedback

I caught the end of R4s “Feedback” programme last night and heard Roger Bolton say next week they will be talking about the Nolan Podcast “Stonewall”. I’m not sure how this will be done, sometimes they seem to just have two guests in the studio talking about a programme, other times they read out various differing opinions, listeners have sent in.
I was wondering if anyone might feel the need to contact Feedback and let them know what they thought of this podcast?

Thanks for posting

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/11/2021 18:44

Thanks for posting, I heard this too. Posted on another thread about it. Roger Bolton said he would be speaking with Stephen Nolan and David Thompson about their podcast. They often have callers on the show too, so let them know your views ahead of time by email, phone call or text.

You can also comment at any time about any aspect of the BBC's coverage of this or any other issue.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/11/2021 18:46

The show goes out on Fridays at 4.30 pm and is repeated on Sundays, so this one will be on Fri 5th Nov.

Here we go, Feedback is about to start on Radio 4. Should be interesting.

StillWeRise · 05/11/2021 16:34

came here to flag this up, anyone else listening ?

nauticant · 05/11/2021 16:35

The programme started with a trail for the segment by referring to "the LGBT lobby group Stonewall" and then went on to say "a position that isn't supported by UK law". Ahh, great.

The comments are very strongly in support of the Nolan and Thompson programme.

Nolan and Thompson are now up.

Remember that Feedback isn't made by the BBC but is made by an outside production company.

Roger Bolton, presenter: "we expected to receive criticism but we've only received praise".

StillWeRise · 05/11/2021 16:37

interesting that they've received only praise, no complaints for the podcast

Iwasonlytryingtohelp · 05/11/2021 16:37

Great!

NoThankYouSaurus · 05/11/2021 16:37

They are saying they have never had as much praise as they have for their Stonewall series. And not much criticism!

NoThankYouSaurus · 05/11/2021 16:39

I love these guys! Really sticking it to Stonewall!

nauticant · 05/11/2021 16:40

"The CEO of Pink News was unable to tell us what some of these terms meant."

HH76ds31 · 05/11/2021 16:40

This is even better than the podcast!

nauticant · 05/11/2021 16:42

Nolan: "The fact that the BBC hasn't answered the questions doesn't make the questions go away."

Thompson: "The main question is did Stonewall influence the BBC's editorial?"

Scoutingformygirls · 05/11/2021 16:42

This is brilliant.

Clear, calm, sensible and honest.

nauticant · 05/11/2021 16:45

The segment is the first 10 minutes of the programme. Essential listening.

It's the way in which Nolan speaks positively of both the BBC and Stonewall and then expresses disappointment at their evasions that's so damning.

prudencepuffin · 05/11/2021 16:46

Just been listening - good stuff - and shining more light, plus possibly encouraging yet more people to listen to the podcasts. All good.

Diaryofamadwoman · 05/11/2021 16:46

This does feel like a watershed.

StillWeRise · 05/11/2021 16:49

v damning of the BBC

LittlePearl · 05/11/2021 16:53

I've been watching for the 'turning tide' for years now and had almost given up hope, but it genuinely does feel as though something has shifted in the last few weeks.

I could scarcely believe I was hearing this on a mainstream BBC radio programme.

nauticant · 05/11/2021 16:59

There's a loose end mentioned in the Feedback programme. The BBC has a hit programme on its hands, widely acclaimed, but only available as a podcast. If this was any other programme we all know it would be repackaged as a series and broadcast on Radio 4.

2Rebecca · 05/11/2021 17:03

Agree, excellent and will hopefully get more people listening.

WarriorN · 05/11/2021 17:08

@nauticant

Roger Bolton, presenter: "we expected to receive criticism but we've only received praise".

I don't think most TRAs know about feedback Grin. Bless.

WarriorN · 05/11/2021 17:10

It illustrates that these people really do live their lives online and so in a bubble.

Many complained to the bbc about Nolan and the article about coercing lesbians because Twitter told them to.
