This is a Halloween special protest.

Enjoy.

I will see if there is a YouTube link for people not on twitter.

And here is another tweet to put it into context.

Witches at George Square taking their message #WomenWontWheesht to #COP26 #COP26Glasgow where we have a Government who removed the word mother from their maternity policy. We say no to the erasure of women & mothers in Scottish law.

I love the persistence and the humour that UK women bring with their protests.

Compare this to the Uk trans activists protests with explicit sexual threats in front of the Filia conference and drowning out the calling out the names of women victims of male violence, the wildly inappropriate protestors in front of the WomensPlace women in prison seminar and of course the Netflix great.

REPENT MOTHERFUCKER!!!

Quite enlightening to see the difference.

This is amazing! They are all stars!

NonnyMouse1337 · 31/10/2021 19:42

This is wonderful. 😊 It's definitely a world apart from the sour faced, sexually aggressive and violence-prone gender zealots. They seem determined to not to win people onto their side.
At least women's rights campaigners can have a sense of humour and pique the interest of those passing by.

Helleofabore · 31/10/2021 19:44

My thanks to those wonderful women in Glasgow!!!

That really is great! Was there any leafleting taking place?

Helleofabore · 31/10/2021 19:53

I hope so!! And I hope… hateful haberdashery!!!

Absolutely brilliant. Smile

FemaleAndLearning · 31/10/2021 20:58

I'm confused by this tweet (the lower one). Doesn't the individual understand the connection between the witch hunters and the GC hunters? Or am I missing something?

Fantastic! Fun, clever, witty — and the TRAs as always respond with sullen threats and abuse. I also love the advice, to someone saying they’re ashamed to be Glaswegian now, that they may want to identify as trans-Edinburgh before the Christmas performance!

Scottish sisters, you have made an aged witch down in England get up and dance xx

Igneococcus · 31/10/2021 21:24

It took me half the video to notice that song is in German.

Helleofabore · 31/10/2021 21:26

I didn’t recognise the music. I did wonder though what it was.

Peter Fox "Schuettel Deinen Speck" (shake your bacon/fat, roughly translated)

Appalonia · 31/10/2021 21:49

I've met the Scottish Witches a couple of times in my trips up to Glasgow this summer and I can tell you, they are such an inspiring group of women! Strong, resolute, passionate, committed and creative. They also have such a strong sense of community and have inspired my own group to be much more active. Bloody love them!

Helleofabore · 31/10/2021 21:57

I am in awe of their wit.

REPENT MOTHERFUCKER!!!

Surely this should be REPENT BODYWITHACERVIXFUCKER!!!

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/10/2021 23:12

Fantastic!

We need massive flash mobs doing this all over the country. And when it gets to the chorus, instead of "Schuettel Deinen Speck", all shout "WOMEN WON'T WHEESHT!"'

Athenajm80 · 31/10/2021 23:39

I remember someone (possibly on here) showing the original witch dance to this song. I loved it then, love it even more now. The ladies, sorry, the witches in Glasgow have done us all proud!

I'd love to see similar protests around the UK. I have put a shout out on Twitter to see if anyone in Cardiff fancies doing the dance with me 😁

Helleofabore · 01/11/2021 01:27

Thanks for the tip Athena.

Here is some back history.

www.amandalinettemeder.com/blog/witch-dance-the-wolfshger-hexenbrut-peter-fox-and-the-new-dance-craze

at the end of April, the women of Wolfshäger Hexenbrut (in English: The Wolf Hunter's Coven), located in Wolfshagen im Harz, Germany, do something a little different.

They get together to celebrate Walpurgis, a holiday celebrating fertility, celebrations including lots of dancing, foods, and drinking, which usually occurs every year on April 30th.

However, in 2016, their celebrations included a choreographed dance to Schüttel deinen Speck, in English: Shake Your Bacon, by German Reggae-Pop artist, Peter Fox, in 2008

After their video took off, it made waves all around the world.

Their 'Witch Dance' was then picked up by various different covens, pagan groups and Halloween celebrations all over the world, becoming particularly popular with US-based groups.
