Baroness Sarah Ludford (Lib Dem) tweeted the BBC story and is now getting tweets from quite senior male Lib Dem activists calling for her to be expelled from the party for transphobia.

If anyone wanted to express support her publicly listed contact details are

House of Lords
London

Email: [email protected]

I can’t find her tweet of the story now but here she is defending her pro-woman position in the face of criticism.

Good to see a Lib Dem taking the GC view,

Gawd he is going to speak to Debbie apparently. Lord above, lucky for us all he knows better than a trans woman. A science teacher trans woman. Who says they are male. But that’s ok, a HehimLibDem has come to explain the error of their ways.

ArtemesiaK · 30/10/2021 19:10

Wow. Had a recent leaflet through the door asking how my local team could help, but ignored it because it was local. Won't ignore it any more. This is disgraceful.....

SomepeopleareTERFSgetoverit · 30/10/2021 19:14

Beardbro says “ We've chucked out a bunch of people for transphobia, just like we have for racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.”

Welcomed the well-known person who left the Greens under a cloud for failing to understand safeguarding in the context of employing their child-rapist father with open arms though.

Wow, that is something. These blokes seems to think they are entitled to tell women to basically shut if they won't put up with whatever men want, really. If other blokes want to do something, women are not entitled to have any boundaries or they are hateful. Seems wokey, blokey beards think that lesbians should be vilified for their sexual orientation?

What a shower of superficial, pretend progressives these misogynistic chappies are.

KittenKong · 30/10/2021 19:31

LibMen party then?

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 30/10/2021 20:45

Someone needs to send those bullying lib dem blokes a link to the results of this poll scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2021/10/exclusive-scot-goes-pop-panelbase-poll_28.html?m=1 and remind them that only 4% of LibDems support self-ID.

Sane people do not approve of coercing lesbians into learning to "cope" with having sex with the a "female penis", even if the prostate haver insists that their consumption of opposite sex hormones has completely changed the "mouthfeel".

ScrollingLeaves · 30/10/2021 21:07

Thank you for drawing this to our attention. I have sent an email of support.

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 30/10/2021 21:19

She is a member of the House of Lords so can call their bluff and sit on the cross benches instead.

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 30/10/2021 21:28

Why are the he/hims always beardy? Why?!!!

ninetynineAu · 30/10/2021 22:04

I have a theory, and it involves Left-wing men who want to appear right-on and not sexist but also want to assert their status as males, especially after about a decade of being mocked by Right-wing men as 'cu ks', 'white knights' 'snowflakes' etc

Grow a beard (bc beard=testosterone), grasp for dear life to the ideology that allows you to agree that men less masculine than yourself aren't really men, supports you to proudly place yourself at top of the gender hierarchy by boasting 'admitting' "I'm a cis man" [aka "I'm a reeeeal man, not like them, see? . Let that penetrate! " (Just to paraphrase yet another [pronoun]...), and makes it more than acceptable again to bond by abusing uppity women as swrfs and trfs when they disagree that men should be allowed anywhere they want all the time, and anything that makes their penises tingle must be accessible to them on demand.

Which must be ever so refreshing for all the frustrated misogynists who use 'Socialist' as an Identity, then found they had to pretend to gaf about women's rights, like, as if we're real humans or something.

KittenKong · 30/10/2021 22:48

Beard privilege, how bloody dare they sprout hair on their faces. Don’t they know it triggers non hairy faced persons?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 30/10/2021 23:15

Lib Dems problem is that they have totally committed to the "I see people's souls" thing. So, it's quite hard to balance that with, you know, what people actually see with their actual eyeballs.

Suspect the ability to "see souls" is an ability developed best with a massive donation by a pharmaceutical who manufactures puberty blockers.

LibMens….spot on.

There’s a frequent theme in the criticism that I’d welcome comment on from women with cleverer brains than me.

Several of the bros say that women saying No Thank You is just the same as the prejudice faced by gay men in the 80s and 90s and so women are wrong and must be stopped.

I can imagine that this view is sincerely held by some gay men. I think they are wrong but can’t articulate why.

Good for her.
According to wiki she's a Vice President of LGBT+ Liberal Democrat's

So one would imagine she knows quite a bit about the issues.

Wildfart · 30/10/2021 23:57

My response to this is that if they can't stick to why the actual thing women want ie. Single sex services is unacceptable, and have to drag in other issues, it's because they don't have an argument about why single sex services are unacceptable prejudice.

If they change the subject it's because they have to, they have no argument about the actual subject.

I can't articulate what's wrong with it because I can't figure out what the hell they might mean by that anyway. Confused
testerwiki · 31/10/2021 00:29

Why is this gaslighting about gender any different from stop the steal or any other big lie?

They're think they're being 'woke' with all this 'support' but they're really undermining women and in the process breaking down barriers so we no longer distinguish between fact and fiction.

Gender is a fact. It does not mean we hate transgenders. For centuries in India they recognised the third sex and they were protected. Why can't society have that conversation?

Instead they keep lying about these profound issues of gender its not mentruation its beet juice The way I see it is if they win, how can this not open the door - for bigger lies and greater tolerance even... for fascism??

Gay rights didn't involve taking rights from others.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 31/10/2021 01:38

Supposing one had a Lib Men MP.

What would one write to that person to say "Baroness Ludford has a point and if you stand up for her I'll possibly vote for you. If you don't I defintiely wont"?

Saying no to sex you mean? So if, say, Russell Tovey didn't want to have sex with me it's OK if he says no, but if in future I identify as a man and he still said no thank you, he would be transphobic? Which is a hate crime...
