The government have opened their consultation on conversion therapy www.gov.uk/government/consultations/banning-conversion-therapy/banning-conversion-therapy. Here is Transgender Trend's assessment www.transgendertrend.com/government-consultation-conversion-therapy-statement-transgender-trend/ and here's a link to Sex Matters' comments: sex-matters.org/posts/updates/conversion-therapy/. We know the TRAs will be inundating this. If you can make sensible comments to protect women's rights and safeguard children please do

Agreed. It is so important we contribute to this. I have just done mine. The consultation is suggesting any kind of discussion involving changing a persons gender identity away from what they say it is would be criminalised and would apply equally whether the gender identity aligned with sex or not. This would clearly lead onto therapists and doctors not being allowed to discuss in any way that it might be better for someone’s health overall that they identify with their biological sex. This will lead to extreme reluctance by clinicians to take anything other than affirmative approach and stifle debate on approaches.

Does it define 'gender'? Without a definition where does it stop? Would attempts to get girls interested in STEM count?
