GC friend just contacted me to say she's been sent this by her company. Should she (a) fill it in and use it to raise her serious concerns about SW (b) complain about being sent it or (c) ignore it completely

As annoying as it is I think C is best as the organisers won't care if she uses it to criticise and it will bump up their numbers of respondents.

Any advice?

I hate to say this but is it anonymous? Are these things ever really anonymous?

snoopyfloops · 27/10/2021 21:15

She's happy to be identified. I just don't think it will do any good.

I don't know is my honest answer.

How shitty is it that we have been reduced to this.

Wildfart · 27/10/2021 21:33

Don't complete it.

Low engagement is more likely to lead to it being dumped.

nancybotwinbloom · 27/10/2021 21:34

So I just googled this and did the survey.

No questions except based around company size and what your job role is.

nancybotwinbloom · 27/10/2021 21:35

I've prob fucked up there by completing it but I didn't give any correct info. Not sure if that's worse or what.

snoopyfloops · 27/10/2021 22:18

Yes I think refusing to engage is best approach. They are not a legitimate organisation so it is not acceptable to submit to their ranking exercise.

My E,D&I (Stonewall biased) sent a questionnaire around my large organisation. I tried to write honest feedback but it was a tick box just for SW with questions such as did I think that trans issues were considered by my organisation. There was no way to highlight injustice to women. I gave up completing it and many others must have as we were all asked to complete it numerous times, apparently due to a very low response rate.

snoopyfloops · 27/10/2021 22:43

Interestingly the folk punting the survey have said they have received complaints so that's why friend considered complaining too. But I think not engaging at all is best.

My company have just ditched SW so I'm hoping hers will too.

I ignored the plea to bump our organisation up the stonewall special list as well.

The surveys are usually impossible to fill in as the first question will be about how you identify or some shite anyway.

We're already fucked, I've been going through all our policies and "guidelines" and I don't think I can see one that correctly identifies sex as a protected characteristic. Even the bullying and harassment info has gender and gender identity. 🙄

donquixotedelamancha · 28/10/2021 00:34

I complained to my HR about their equality policy and they listened. No point bemoaning stonewall's influence if even those who are aware of it do nothing.

Sending the recent homophobic quote from the chair would illustrate the problem.

Galvantula · 28/10/2021 22:53

Yeah I've been deciding on the best way to submit my concern that they have ditched an entire protected characteristic.

I think I can do it anonymously which might be easier.
