Feeling left out in Work Diversity survey

I've just answered a survey where we were asked to state our race, age, disabilities, sexual orientation and gender identity. This was all done with positive intent as the company looks to become more inclusive. Why then do I feel left out?

I couldn't identify as a gender and had no option to state my sex which is the one that has impacted me most in the workplace.

I'm nervous to raise with HR in case I am seen as non inclusive. I think it's great we are asking about gender but where was my option to state my sex.

You could simply ask them why one of the protected characteristics of the equality act was left out of their survey. The characteristic is sex, not gender or gender identity. They cannot change the wording of the equality act, or leave one characteristic out.

I wouldn’t have even answered. Was it optional? How dare an employer even ask that you share your disabilities, for a start. Employers are far too involved in their employees lives these days, I don’t care how much they try and frame it as being inclusive. Mind your own business (literally).

Have you responded to HR outlining:

I think it depends how much you're willing to stick your head above the parapet?

We had this. I wrote to HR and pointed out they'd missed a protected characteristic. They've promised to review the language and I'll chase when the survey next comes out.
