Ceri Black has ovaries of steel and my admiration grows for her and her indomitable spirit.

The following is all from her Twitter update thread.

----

Update: there has been some back and forth between my solicitor, the police and myself.

They have invited me again to come voluntarily to the station to be interviewed under caution.

I politely declined their offer.

They made a series of other offers.

They offered to come to my house to interview me voluntarily here.

I politely declined.

They offered to interview me voluntarily at a location of my choice.

I politely declined.

They suggested that I be interviewed by female officers.

I politely declined.

y solicitor politely declined every offer they made to me.

The police then informed my solicitor that if I was to be arrested, they would be sure to let both me and my solicitor know beforehand, and arrange a time convenient to me.

They would not cuff or manhandle me.

They would have me spend as little time as possible at the station.

This is reassuring and emboldening to me; I know that I can walk through that experience with my head held high.

haven't (yet) been given either a date and time for my arrest, or a reassurance that I will not be arrested. Either way, I will keep you informed as soon as I have either.

In the mean time, please do keep up the pressure on
@PSNIABC
and the chief constable.

hey are arresting a survivor of childhood sexual abuse for the crime of saying that paedophiles and paedophile enablers are bad.

I don't want to be insulting, but shouldn't they be out arresting, I dunno, paedophiles and vexatious complainants?

For absolute shame.

Another update.

UPDATE: I've been informed that another complaint has been made about me to police.

PSNI didn't bother to threaten arrest this time, they're passing it straight on to the prosecution service.

If i want to know who made the complaint, i have to go for interview

It'll be interesting to see whether they come out to read me my rights again. If it is an entirely separate complaint, i guess they will have to.

In the mean time, don't worry about me - if there's not enough evidence to arrest me, there's not enough evidence to prosecute.

All of which means that I'm not going to see the inside of a courtroom, let alone a prison cell, over all this.

This is insane.

The first time they said the interview would be under caution (so not a voluntary one she could leave at any time). Her legal advice for her particular case was do not go voluntarily for an interview under caution. If was going to be under caution wait for them to arrest you.

This may not apply to other cases. E.g. if you’ve been accused of theft but can prove you were nowhere near the area at the time it makes sense go to to a voluntary interview. But not in this situation.

At what point does this become harassment?

@TheWeeDonkey

At what point does this become harassment?
That line was breached some time ago.

The police are being used to harrass women who say no to men.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2022 11:56

The process is the punishment and the chilling effect is the goal.

I always wonder where posters like Blueberry, Barley, Margarita etc are on threads like this.

I presume they are too busy on other threads saying "it didn't happen" or "if it did it was her fault" and "it's not a big deal" and "well you lot deserve it anyway" Hmm

She’s an absolute warrior and her courage is inspiring.
