YouTube has DELETED the Novara Media channel. Novara has been a thorn in the side of lesbians.

I'm glad it's been reinstated. Youtube should not be deciding what people get to see and hear. I think Novara is a load of absolute bollocks, but the right to free speech is absolute.

I suspect you are right. They will pull the offending videos, promise to behave, then publicly claim victory.

There are no offending videos. It was pulled, and then later reinstated with no change of content. Youtube have apologised but haven't offered any explanation.

My guess is some of their enemies worked out how to game the reporting process to set off YouTube's bots, but that's only a guess.

I emailed Ash yesterday. I kept it pretty polite, but I was very blunt with my language ("cutting bits off" that kind of thing). She replied with a one sentence response which was basically insulting, but not that bad. She didn't reply when I followed it up pointing out that she had just achieved joint first in my "best arguments I've ever heard from a TRA" list, "#nodebate because #noargument" and asking her when and how she's going to stop digging and instead climb out of the hole she's dug herself. She didn't reply a second time.

I find her loathsome. I despise people like Sarkar and Sally Rooney going on about being "Marxists" and "Communists" whilst taking all the benefits of a capitalist society (including the ability to spout rubbish freely) safe in the knowledge they'll never have to live in a Marxist regime.

If by some nightmare we did end up in a Marxist regime the likes of Sarkar would , of course, be safely at the trough in the inner circle.

So did Hopkins, in her time. I would argue Sarkar is just following the business model she pioneered. I take your point that the ideas of Novara media's end of the left do have more influence than the far right at the moment (these things vary over the decades) but it's still a small bubble of idiots.

Communism's defining characteristics are totalitarianism, state control of large capital, state control of culture/media and political violence.

I don't see a big distinction between Novara media and Stormfront. I don't want either banned unless they promote violence but I wouldn't complain at YouTube not wanting to host them.

To be fair, I think YouTube should be more transparent about actions like this - especially with bigger channels. When you've engaged in a business arrangement with a channel to share ad revenue, you're not just moderating comment threads anymore.
