"So long as you can keep your job — quite a caveat at present — the very best response to being vilified is not to speak directly to outlandish accusations, but to carry on doing what you’ve been doing. To refuse to be waylaid."

Thanks. That helped me tonight after a friend silently dumped me for trying to protect women and kids.

Yep that's kindof what Chamberlain was doing. Could not see that change was happening.

Warmduscher · 23/10/2021 22:45

And you don't reflect on that at all?

What, reflect on what a twat her friend is for dumping her because she wants to protect women and kids? Maybe she did - for a microsecond.

Sorry to hear that, Blessex.

I’m still surprised by the number of people (but especially women) who don’t understand the basic principles of safeguarding.

I hope in time your friend will realise but I think that ‘radical feminism’ will end up like the WWII resistance - the largest army in the world but only after the fact.

The ideology is falling. She'll come round.

Sorry you have to go through this though.

There's beer on my keyboard and that is Mishy's fault. Grin

Blame the Turing Test developer.

Sorry to hear that Blessex Flowers

I watched The Closer today & Shriver is spot on.

Lovelyricepudding · 23/10/2021 23:09

Shame Mishy's post was deleted. I thought it was quite revealing that Mishy thinks someone should reflect on whether they should be supporting safeguarding of children. I presume Mishy thinks not.

I find the Spectator quite uplifting these days, especially now they are including more articles by women on the subject of women's rights. Shriver is fantastically self assured and intelligent - I love reading her articles, she is an inspiration.

Your friend is a chump, obviously. The idea that we should all surround ourselves with those who mirror our opinions on everything is incredibly stupid. Friendship is all about to and fro, agreeing to disagree and finding commonality - zealots make poor friends. Dictators have no friends.

I agree with other posters that this is a phase, society will outgrow it the same way it outgrew tobacco advertising and corsets. Nothing changes with silence.
