I am just overwhelmed about the backlash against movember…

But that’s just not true. How dare they.

Hello!

Any thoughts on my post on your thread?

But this talks about men??

Not people with prostates.

Or prostate havers.

Or bodies with prostates.

I don’t understand.

Scraggythang · 23/10/2021 17:21

Wha… what about the non-binary folks and trans women that may have a prostate? This is so exclusionary. Not only men have prostates!

Shall we all go mental and pile on until they find more suitable wording?

(Only joking. Obvs.)

Well, quite.
BatmansBat · 23/10/2021 17:22

I believe that they are trying to reach as many men as possible (see their tweet below).

I wish our society considered it important to reach as many women as possible as well Sad.

I can grow a moustache rather than spend a fortune on grooming products. It'll be my lady tache.

Yes, I know prostate cancer is no joke. My Dad died of it.

Totallydefeated · 23/10/2021 17:36

Love that respond from Prostate Cancer UK.

Unashamedly sensible, clear and to the point. How very refreshing. Women’s charities should take note.

Helleofabore · 23/10/2021 17:37

That is nice Disgusted.

A site that has used men and other additive descriptions.

Something that women don’t seem to deserve on health services for our health issues.

Thanks for posting yet another example of the discrimination we face in the progress of ‘trans rights’ where we are constantly assured that there is no conflict at all.

Thanks for posting!

Agree.

Prostate Cancer is hellish, so is Cervical Cancer. It hurts no one to target men for male cancers, why is the same regard not shown to women?

Perhaps the people dealing with women's cancers are too busy trying to be inclusive to accept that in medical issues biology is a reality.

That's awful disgusted, so transphobic. Sad

TheWeeDonkey · 23/10/2021 18:02

It just makes me so angry BigFatLiar one of my first experiences of death, and of death by cancer was when my best friend's nan had cervical cancer. She went from a lively, vital, hilarious and lovely woman to a shrunken shell within months. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

As a result I've always had my smear tests however uncomfortable or embarrassed they made me feel. When we detach women's humanity from vital healthcare we do them a huge disservice.

Deliriumoftheendless · 23/10/2021 18:07

Yeah, it clearly says “MEN” in that link of Disgust’s.

Artichokeleaves · 23/10/2021 18:13

Isn't it interesting that the first rule of providing health care to women is not to upset people with penises? When the first rule of providing health care to men is to prioritise the needs of people with penises.

Spot the need for sex based rights and words.

Thank you Artichokeleaves

I saw that tweet from Prostate Cancer UK. Why can't women's charities and companies talking about periods, menopause, pregnancy and the like, just take that approach?
