Taiwo Owatemi MP and I think Shadow Secretary for Women and Equalities

OP posts:

good to see the responses to that tweets though and someone mentions its going to be discussed on GB News tonight at 5.30

LGBA should sue - a case like this would go along way to setting a huge example to others who feel they can say what they want as long as Twitter likes it

As we've seen with Netflix some people think that real life is like social media and they can storm a meeting and make everyone bend to their will - about time more people slandered in this way made a stand. Hit them in their pockets

yourhairiswinterfire · 13/10/2021 16:01

'' LGB Alliance, whose application for charitable status was opposed by over 50 LGBT+ groups...''

Yeah, and the Charity Commission listened, investigated, saw through the childish tantrums and granted LGBA charity status.

Cry harder.

NewYearNewTwatName · 13/10/2021 16:12

its not slander it's Libel, because it is written.

Mollyollydolly · 13/10/2021 16:17

I just thanked Jess Phillips for sharing that Guardian Opinion piece, then saw this. I really hate Labour .. they are determined to stop me voting for them aren't they?

Jaysmith71 · 13/10/2021 16:20

Taiwo Owatemi previously a senior oncology pharmacist for an NHS Trust, who must have prescirbed for many a lady-prostate.

Jaysmith71 · 13/10/2021 16:22

they are determined to stop me voting for them aren't they?

They are working bloody hard to do this. It will be difficult, but they might just pull it off like the wankers they are.

rabbitwoman · 13/10/2021 16:23

I honestly don't understand how people can continue getting away with these lies about the LGBA.

Where does it come from, for goodness sake!? Who is advising Labour? Surely at some point someobe is going to have to provide some proof....!?

In other news I see there is an investigation into Stonewall by Steve Nolan on BBC sounds now....

WhereYouLeftIt · 13/10/2021 16:24

She's also a Coventry MP - the land of the Challenor family.

Jaysmith71 · 13/10/2021 16:30

Mention of Coventry made me think of my old mucker (ish) Dave Nellist and his TUSC, founded by the wonderful Bob Crowe.

They say:

(TUSC Candidates) would link up with those taking action against climate change, the Black Lives Matter movement, and campaigns against attacks on women's rights and services.

ANewCreation · 13/10/2021 16:31

Awful letter.

Her majority is 208 votes, 0.4%. Don't imagine she can really afford to alienate 51% of the electorate in Coventry...

Blessex · 13/10/2021 16:48

‘While I am not familiar with Professor Stock’s writings’

And yet you have an opinion on them. Based on what? Hearsay?

Scoutingformygirls · 13/10/2021 16:48

How can she say that opposing puberty blockers is flagrantly against Gillick? The issue is not only related to young people's ability to consent but also (and very importantly) to the fact that puberty blockers are an experimental treatment with unknown consequences when used in this way. Opposing their use in young people surely isn't a hard position to understand?!

RainbowCrossing · 13/10/2021 16:48

Ooof. Profound misunderstanding of Gillick there. Bless her. She's not really up to this is she?

LobsterNapkin · 13/10/2021 17:30

I still find it shocking to me, after all this time, that none of these people say nothing, and seem to know nothing about academic freedom.

It's like they have no clue how important that has been in allowing exploration of ideas they themselves consider important.

ArtemesiaK · 13/10/2021 17:31

What a shocking letter.... :(

Jaysmith71 · 13/10/2021 18:40

In other news, another one bites the dust:

I find it shocking how they seem to know nothing about anything! She's bandying stuff around in that letter: Gillick, accusations against LGBA, against KS, hasn't read her book, doesn't understand the safeguarding and legal framework of which Gillick is a part. And these people want our votes and want to run the country. It's just insane! I guarantee the complainant she is writing to knows more about this than she does. Where's the humility???
secular111 · 13/10/2021 20:37

The last GE result in 2019 for Coventry North-West was;

Taiwo Owatemi Labour
Votes Share Change
20,918 43.8% -10.1%

Clare Golby Conservative
20,710 43.4% +6.6%

It won't take much to tip the Tories into a win next Election, and the women of Coventry North-West have it within their power.

Mollyollydolly · 14/10/2021 00:55

@Mollyollydolly

I just thanked Jess Phillips for sharing that Guardian Opinion piece, then saw this. I really hate Labour .. they are determined to stop me voting for them aren't they?
And Jess has since deleted her tweet. Why are they so spineless?
WarriorN · 14/10/2021 06:45

Will she have been sent a copy of Trans?

I imagine so.
