I was surprised by this video, not just by the hysteria on display, but heartened by the comments. People are starting to question, to push back. In esence, they are not playing the game anymore.

OP posts:

The manager was cool.

malloo · 08/10/2021 15:58

Gosh, those women are unusually aggressive and entitled, you'd almost think they were, I dunno, men?

nauticant · 08/10/2021 16:09

That's on the youtube channel of The Daily Caller:

Founded by Tucker Carlson, a 20-year veteran of print and broadcast media, and Neil Patel, former Chief Policy Adviser to Vice President Cheney, The Daily Caller is committed to providing its audience with original reporting, in-depth investigations, thought-provoking commentary, and breaking news.

The comments are more about the channel than the current thinking of the public.

Jaysmith71 · 08/10/2021 16:11

The "Sir" thing is very American. Hee, it has forelock-tugging, bowing and scraping connotations and so has fallen into disuse.

What would they all make of being called Luv or Miduk?

HummingBeeBox · 08/10/2021 16:24

God this winds me up. We as humans are incredibly good at knowing what biological sex people are. If people want to be called madam etc fine but people will make mistakes and it seems the transwomen in this video have a hard time accepting that they look like men and are biologically male, regardless of gender, and will likely always present as such. It just smacks of hate on their part, the kicking off is so aggressive.

sqirrelfriends · 08/10/2021 16:26

The comments are absolute gold, I can only imagine they would be waaaay different on Twitter.

I don't think it's right that they misgendered her, as I think everyone deserve respect (if they themselves are respectful). However I don't think it was fine on purpose, "sir" and "ma'am" are said on autopilot by serving staff so I imagine it just slipped out.

Gotobloodysleep · 08/10/2021 16:28

Those videos have a real South Park type vibe.

@RoseisMadder that makes no sense at all!

anon12345678901 · 08/10/2021 16:44

The manager was great. The person pays with a credit card with a male name and then berates the manager because staff called him sir. If you decide to change your gender then you should expect sometimes people may slip up.

BaronMunchausen · 08/10/2021 16:50

Sonic has solemnly promised to investigate its employee. The bully handed him a credit card with a male name before repeatedly demanding to know what he thought was. Masculine name, masculine voice, the employee finally, and honestly, said "a man". Whereupon the bully turned phone round, as if were self-evidently not a man, as sporting lipstick and long hair.

I think the tide may be turning
nauticant · 08/10/2021 16:56

I wanted to see how that response went down on twitter:

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 08/10/2021 16:57

So they must be women because they have long hair and are wearing lipstick?

Nope, nothing sexist to see here, nothing at all!

yourhairiswinterfire · 08/10/2021 16:58

This person got their arse handed to them on Twitter too.

People are done with this shit.

yourhairiswinterfire · 08/10/2021 16:59

Sorry, x post with nauticant

CharlieParley · 08/10/2021 17:02

Or, in the case of the customer with a credit card with a male name but feminine presenting, one might have thought that staff were rather enlightened, didn't bat an eyelid at encountering someone with a man's name dressing in a feminine style who is happily being themselves (proudly gender-non-conforming man).

I don't get why there's an immediate jump to transphobia. One staff member saying sir, then the rest do it, too, to be polite. That customer is accusing the manager of being transphobic for recognising a male person is male. That's ridiculous.

Staff were supposed to ignore the name on the credit card and go by appearance. But what if they don't see a woman but a man with a feminine appearance? Are we required to be mind readers now?

You have a serious problem if your wellbeing depends on everyone you encounter espousing your beliefs. The world doesn't work like that. No matter what faith or principle or ideology you believe in, you're always going to encounter lots of people who believe the opposite.

You cannot fall apart when others disagree with your beliefs. It's not healthy.

FromEden · 08/10/2021 17:06

"I would assume you are a man". Sorry but I laughed and the person turning around the camera to show a clearly male person wearing a wig and lipstick to try and show that they are in fact a woman made it even better. Good for him for standing up to this belligerent and delusional person. I'm guessing this employee is in trouble now though

Motorina · 08/10/2021 17:14

@malloo

Yup. The last one threatens to take it outside. I have NEVER heard a woman do that, mostly because we know we'll end up badly hurt.

Plenty of men do it, though.

All three behave as if they've had a lifetime of male conditioning. All three, incidentally, look like men inspite of their dress sense. But it's the former that actually matters when it comes to womens' safety.

nauticant · 08/10/2021 17:15

I was tempted to put up that tweet too yourhairiswinterfire. But I thought this was a telling response:

Well since the bully was standing right in front of the employee, surely the only suitable word would be 'you'.
Motorina · 08/10/2021 17:24

First one makes a comment about needing to pass as a cis-woman in order to be safe. Which in itself shows a staggering lack of insight into how it actually is to live as a woman.

Gah, just realised it wasn't a x post, we posted different tweets!

The ratio on the sonicdrivein one you posted is quite something!!

334bu · 08/10/2021 17:45

Twitter is cheering on manager.

Babdoc · 08/10/2021 17:55

Made my day! At last, ordinary people have realised what is going on, and are not having it. Feminists are no longer lone voices, the mainstream has also spotted the Emperor’s nudity.
I would love to see a research study on the incidence of narcissism in transwomen. My gut feeling is it would be way above average.
