Fantastic speech:

"The belief that women and girls are not female humans is inherently dehumanizing. It dehumanizes [them] to redefine female as a belief category which can be performed, reduced to hormones, to the purchasing of implants and plastic surgery.”

She made some good points and I can see why she wanted to do so, but it was a pity she didn't have NZ examples to quote. That gave them space to patronise her and dismiss what she had to say. Because as we all know, NZ is different and better and more enlightened than the UK and the US. (Except, of course, it's not: child poverty rates are high, there's a lot of anti Maori racism, it's very misogynistic under a thin layer of feminism and DV is a huge problem. But my white British-heritage Kiwi family and friends like to draw a veil over that)

It did but her point was that the bill was being discussed and she gave examples of where it had gone wrong in other countries, mainly the us.

I thought she tried to too at one point?
