Binders and breathing issues

This week in school I witnessed one of our NB female students, who also happens to have asthma, have an awful attack of shortness of breath. I can’t say if it was an asthma attack, though they did have their inhaler.
It only struck me last night that they may be wearing a binder, which will likely have exacerbated the attack.
I need to send an email to Head of Year, gently suggesting that if they are wearing one they may be linked.
Turns out we’re fully signed up to Stonewall, so dinners to tread carefully, though many colleagues are aware of my thoughts.
Does anyone know of only good links outlining the link between binding and breathing difficulties that I could attach to me email?
Many thanks.

But for past six years has been successfully and safely practicing chest binding. It has not worsened his dysphoria, but have helped him feel comfortable out in public and also confirm to him that he is definitely a transman.

Do you think someone on an NHS waiting list for surgery is going to say they have doubts?

Are you there when the binder comes off? (I hope not!)

What is the difference between what transmen are saying on anonymous forums and what they're saying to friends and family? Are the anonymous accounts all fake, or is there an element of reassurance that all is well and binding is no biggie?

If wearing heels causes permanent damage to the calf and ligaments and a tight ponytail or corn rows causes traction alopecia, what is so resilient about transmen's ribs and spine that makes them immune to being compressed all the time?

Double mastectomy is not something I’d want a teen to decide on without having done chest binding first to see how they really feel as it is nonpermanent

Are those really the only two options? Binders or double mastectomy?

And is that what you think posters here are advocating?

There are a whole world of options out there for this young person that don't involve either of those things and that result in them having a happy life with the breasts that they will naturally have by dint of their sex.

It is so sad that that isn't going to be the outcome for them. If it were my daughter that's the hill I would die on.

Frankly, I think the sentence should stop there.
