Met Police officer becomes Britain's first 'bi-gender' PC

Read and weep. Two warrant cards, one male, one female.
After this week and what we've learnt about the Met.

You couldn't make it up.

“The first time I walked into a Met building as Abi, I was hyperventilating so much I almost passed out.
I’ve done it a handful of times since and felt so happy that I got to be me at work. Abi is a part of me that exists and I want that part to be recognised and validated."

Are commenters on this thread forgetting that a male police officer raped and murdered a woman this year?

Beckert · 29/11/2021 19:32

I wouldn’t have any concern about being searched by a trans-women. Given all the abuse and negativity they’d have to endure for their gender identify, I’d be pretty confident they weren’t identifying as female just to cop a feel

Do you believe that transwomen would be incapable of 'copping a feel' (in your words) because of the abuse and negativity you believe they experience?

Or is it that you believe that transwomen are women? If so why?

Or would you simply be happy to let them search you because you feel sorry for them?

Can you understand why the majority of women may not feel comfortable with being searched by a biological male?

Personwithrage · 29/11/2021 19:33

But 2 different email addresses? That's just disingenuous isn't it?!

Why WOULD anyone be ok with someone having 2 different personas and you never knowing which you're going to get? If I was liaising with a named officer in relation to being the victim of crime, I want reliable and consistent communication, not having to wonder which version of them might turn up. What on earth would 2 email addresses achieve except confusion and delays?!

What is the purpose of the police service here? As a victim of crime I rather expect to be the recipient of a service not a bit part player in someone's gender identity crisis.

I don't give a monkeys who they are but they need to decide and stick to it.

And if I'm the victim of a sexual assault or arrested and have to be searched in a state of undress, or alone in a room with an officer when I'm feeling vulnerable then I absolutely do have a preference for a biologically female officer.

Reminds me of my neighbour who said she could never trust a black doctor. Deserves exactly the same response too

Ahh the old conflating sex with race argument.

Are you one of the people who likes to make black women a subset of their own sex class in order to include transwomen as another sub category?

allmywhat · 29/11/2021 19:40

Reminds me of my neighbour who said she could never trust a black doctor. Deserves exactly the same response too!

Men commit 97% of sexual assaults.

Now you know that, are you happy to continue claiming that
black person: white person is the same kind of relationship as man:woman?

Because I suggested the people posting on this thread are nasty??? I’m leaving this nest of vipers. Thought it might be fun to chat to other mums. How wrong was I? Reactionary, unquestioning, tabloid reading horrors.

Evidently you're not a fan of women having opinions ?

This is so well put.

Does it include the transwomen currently in prison for rape? As in THEY raped a woman rather than they have been raped of course.

I mean, this has to be satire, surely?

People are literally questioning this, people are referring to the Met police's own article about this, not tabloids. Nothing about the comments are reactionary. You must be reading something different to everyone else 🤷

Whitefire · 29/11/2021 21:01

I think we were just supposed to say:

"Tabloid, won't read, must be lies" and then do nothing.

Personwithrage · 29/11/2021 21:07

This is the questioning you plonker.

Us questioning is what's making you cross.

We're meant to have absolutely no questions about someone wanting to flip flop around with different identities and names and id badges whilst being employed to safeguard others. No questions about how that may affect the more vulnerable in society and absolutely no questions about the motivation of such a person or those who facilitate their multiple presentations.

I've never bought a tabloid paper in my life but maybe I should if they're the ones prepared to expose this utter nonsense for what it is.

You'd love it if we were unquestioning!

SammyScrounge · 29/11/2021 21:21

Poor wee soul is so upset that he doesn't want to patrol on foot any more!

Ah, man, someone coincidentally leaves as soon as they're asked what gender is, AGAIN? So weird I keep missing it, from the people that insist it's all-important.
RedDogsBeg · 30/11/2021 11:40

Exactly, the Equality Act protected characteristic of Gender Reassignment does not apply to this person, neither does the GRA cover them.

The person is question is flip-flopping between identities and is being enabled to do that which is ludicrous. On a purely practical note, they have two different email addresses so log in as a different person when the mood takes, what happens if a member of the public emails something urgent to the one not being used that particular day or week? What happens if a member of the public rings and asks for the opposite identity? It's such risible nonsense. What this persons does off duty in their own time is their business, parading it during working hours and expecting everyone to enable, promote, validate and submit to it is the issue, you are at work to work not indulge in your fantasies.

So in the time you’ve been here you’ve posted on this thread and one about refugees.

If you are wanting to ‘chat to other mums’ then there are so many other much more fun topics.
