Just a heads up Kellie Jay back for a second time in a new YT interview with the lads on Triggernometry. 😊👍

They apologised to her for how they treated her. And said how much she had opened their eyes to what's going on.

To some extent they both acknowledged that they educated themselves after the interview but prompted by how well she stood up to their (ignorant) questioning.

beastlyslumber · 03/10/2021 14:52

Yeah they were ignorant and rude, which they acknowledged and KJ graciously waved away. I think she quite liked having them to push back against. She definitely didn't come off the worse in that interview, and it was (maybe still is) the most watched episode of their show ever. And since then they have got a LOT better on this topic.

NutellaEllaElla · 03/10/2021 14:59

I think it's fair enough that they acknowledged that they came from a place of ignorance (exact words), asked her direct questions that helped them clarify their own thoughts and made their minds up from there. You can't say fairer than that can you.

JoodyBlue · 03/10/2021 15:38

@NutellaEllaElla no I don't think you can say fairer than that. Everybody comes from a place of ignorance the first time they approach a new subject don't they? So the key thing is talking, and sometimes it means disagreeing and arguing. I like push back when I speak too because sometimes it is the only way people get to influence each other. There is nothing worse than a stubborn silence, where you know you can't communicate because there is no engagement. It is so much what is happening now. Someone says something and no-one dare disagree for fear of being impolite. It is dangerous.

JoodyBlue · 03/10/2021 15:44

@OhHolyJesus

Let's get back there Joody. We can go back to that.
So hopeful @OhHolyJesus the fear is that too much time will pass and women will forget what an amazing thing female togetherness can be. Will keep on banging the drum for our daughters.
Triggerpod · 03/10/2021 15:44

Let's just say you're in for a treat tonight Grin

OhHolyJesus · 03/10/2021 15:51

Will keep on banging the drum for our daughters

We will @JoodyBlue and as Posie says, we will win. Nothing that is built on sand can last.

nauticant · 03/10/2021 16:06

If you look at the title of tonight's stream, it does indeed look like the Triggernometry blokes have changed their views since part 1:

Melroses · 03/10/2021 16:23

@Triggerpod

Let's just say you're in for a treat tonight Grin
Well, you would say that wouldn't you Grin
somethinginoffensive · 03/10/2021 16:50

Just watching the first one to see if there's much difference.

MidsomerMurmurs · 03/10/2021 17:47

@JoodyBlue

@NecessaryScene I rewatched the links you shared this morning. What really strikes me is she talks as women used to talk, when we were allowed to speak. She reminds me of uni friends in pubs, laughing, being rude, and funny. From a time in our very recent history when women had each others backs. There was real female solidarity and it gave women strength and girls role models

Yes, absolutely this. I wasted an hour or so of my life that I’m not getting back watching part of a documentary on the Spice Girls the other day and it was so stark how radical they were at the time (when I would have been dismissing them with a contemptuous sneer). They were so brave and outspoken. They took the piss out of everyone, especially embodiments of patriarchy like Prince Charles who just couldn’t handle them at all.

And they were faced with the most egregious sexism. Chris Evans literally weighing a post-partum Victoria Beckham on TFI Friday. At the time I suppose we all thought this was just a laugh but now- WTAF?

And you look around at contemporary navel-gazing, miserablist self-obsessed society and wonder what happened to powerful women’s voices. I’m a big fan of PP by the way.

TimeToDateAgain · 03/10/2021 17:54

@Triggerpod Watching back PP's interview with you both has made me want to go and watch some of the previous interviews that were mentioned.

MaMaLa321 · 03/10/2021 17:59

I'm looking forward to it.
Like many podcast, I find them too laddish to be enjoyable a lot of the time.
But how many other people were offering PP, or any GC voice, a forum at all at that time? None, so credit to them.
And I loved the way that PP pushed back at them.

WarriorN · 03/10/2021 18:05

There's also the baroness interviewing Helen Joyce in 10 mins!

Very good evening of watching! except the kids have to be washed and wrestled to bed during most of it

Lottapianos · 03/10/2021 18:53

Where do we find Helen Joyce and the Baroness?

Lottapianos · 03/10/2021 19:01

Cheers WarriorN!

moregarlic · 03/10/2021 19:44

Is there another thread for this?

somethinginoffensive · 03/10/2021 19:46

Bit late as I was watching Helen Joyce.

Their reaction to her pointing out that universities have student kink clubs and advice for student sex workers was brilliant.

WarriorN · 03/10/2021 20:27

Helen Joyce interview 6.15pm www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4365583-Helen-Joyce-interview-6-15pm

somethinginoffensive · 03/10/2021 20:33

Interesting that in both the Joyce meeting and the PP interview the 'how did we get here?' question was raised.

It shows how much of this ideology somehow got pushed as a new way of thinking without most people noticing. I feel there are lessons to be learned about this happened, but right now just getting things back to not being based on falsehoods would be a start.

WarriorN · 03/10/2021 21:07

Yes, I'm very much enjoying posie on trigger.

Was rewatching the Matthew Goodwin interview (why did Labour loose the GE) earlier which intersects really well with this one.

Particularly enjoyed the bit where they talk about a particular word and the link to India W 's interview comes up on the screen....

BettyFilous · 03/10/2021 21:27

I thought Francis looked genuinely shocked when Posie spoke about the university kink clubs and emails to students about doing “sex work” safely.

The idea of a 5’8” Posie made me think “hell yeah!” and OMG, she would be terrifying (in a good way).

bentleydrummle · 03/10/2021 21:38

Loved her. Also I have the same trainers as her which made me feel ridiculously excited

WarriorN · 03/10/2021 21:46

Betty, yes I thought that.

I felt the stereotypes question a bit odd, can see where it was going but the whole point is that gender stereotypes aren't good for anyone, hence PP's answer. Eg lower male emotional literacy is linked to higher rates of violence and prison sentences. Less opportunity to play with spatial technical toys (eg Lego) reduced girls' achievements in areas of maths.

Trans is embodied medicalised gender stereotyping even when it says it's not and it's fluid and queer.

Pp was soooo right about many mothers thinking their kids are trans, (not all, I know so many doing the absolute opposite, fighting for their kids, here and elsewhere.) But I'm in online bf, mothering and sling groups and their belief in this shit is horrifying. You cannot question it at all.

Overall an excellent interview.
