I don't understand why my thread was deleted

I posted earlier thanking you lot for giving me the confidence to speak up against gender stuff.
It's been deleted because I broke guidelines but I don't understand what I said wrong. It's a bloody minefield, does anybody who saw my thread know what I did wrong?

If you report your own post then HQ will explain via email.

Essentially your thread will have been reported and complained about by one of the many who like to police and suppress women talking, and will probably have been zapped on a technicality of language.

CervixSampler · 01/10/2021 14:14

Did you state scientific facts? That's a crime you know Wink I didn't see your thread so I don't know but in my experience I've had to push for an explanation which was that penis-havers would be/are upset. The penis is very delicate and thin-skinned you see and its sensibilities very easily offended.

334bu · 01/10/2021 14:22

Did any of the other people on the thread get deleted several times? Sometimes people post objectionable stuff to get themselves reported so that the thread is taken down.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/10/2021 14:27

Was that the one about filling in a form and whether your gender match what was 'assigned' at birth. I've been looking for that for about 30 mins now.

If it was that thread, you were dead right.

MadameKali · 01/10/2021 14:48

Thanks @Artichokeleaves I have done and apparently some of my wording "didn't fit with the guidelines for civil debate" I kind of get where they're coming from but I wish they'd post on threads like that and allow the OP the opportunity to reword something.
It was meant to be a nice thread thanking FWR dinos for giving my the courage to speak up about things and now I feel like I've been chastised, it's quite upsetting when you're not used to having to jump through the hoops.

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar nope that wasn't me. I wonder if another one has been zapped. The speech police must be out in full force.

OP please do start another thread - it was a great thread and it's really important that people share when they speak up in RL because hopefully it gives confidence to others to do so. And only by people talking about this in RL will anything change.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 01/10/2021 14:51

Did you suggest or imply that men aren't women? Because that'll get you banned.

BatmansBat · 01/10/2021 14:51

It can be very small things that makes a difference. For example, you are allowed (I think still) to express that you are against all penises or that you want all penises out of women’s changing rooms.

You have to be very clear that this is a general statement and not against any particular penis. I have seen a post deleted when this wasn’t completely clear.

Penises are indeed very fragile and sensitive.

Thelnebriati · 01/10/2021 14:56

Surely if a thread is deleted the OP should receive an email that states why?

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 01/10/2021 14:59

Apparently they don't. Or email you to tell you they've banned you. You have to message them and ask I'm told.

334bu · 01/10/2021 15:02

The use of the words men and women are problematic. You cannot say but this person is a /* but you can say that this person is biologically male/ female. The former words are considered to be offensive because they refer to the person's gender identity and it is insulting to suggest that they are a different gender identity. This is also why c* women is considered to be offensive. However, transwomen / men are biologically male/female; a scientific fact so acceptable. I might if course be totally wrong but that is what I assume the reasoning to be.

334bu · 01/10/2021 15:04

Sorry some of my asterisks have gone AWOL./**

Anonymum263 · 01/10/2021 15:05

Was this the I was wrong thread? I knew it was doomed so I scrolled quickly through and bookmarked all the useful links.

Of course this one will probably be reported as a thread about a thread.

Anonymum263 · 01/10/2021 15:06

Whoops, no that one's still up, thank goodness!

Sorry about your thread, OP.

MidsomerMurmurs · 01/10/2021 15:16

The former words are considered to be offensive because they refer to the person's gender identity
But they obviously don’t. We all know what “man” and “woman” mean. If people really, really, really want to talk about gender, and gender stereotypes, they can use words like masculine and feminine.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2021 15:40

One has to be careful to be not too general.

One also must not be too specific.

ComprehensiveTea · 01/10/2021 15:43

Ah, I saw that thread. I'm glad you asked why it was deleted, because I'm very new here and still at the stage where I'm reading and getting a feel for how things are best expressed. If ever you find out the specifics of why your thread was deleted, would you consider letting all of us know (if that's allowed and you're happy doing that)?

BlackeyedSusan · 01/10/2021 15:59

I saw your thread but nothing stuck out in the first few posts so can't help. Great you found a mate to chat with though.

It is counter productive to get threads deleted as then more people realise the complexity of being language policed and form their own opinion.

Blackandwhitehorse · 01/10/2021 16:12

Hmm I had a comment deleted on another thread where I implied that men weren’t woman. However if we are still using the dictionary definition of woman and man then it was just a fact. Could it have been something like that

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 01/10/2021 16:55

I didn't see it, but I've often seen people get deleted on their first posts after delurking, because they didn't know the unwritten rules.

Some of them don't come back. I'm glad you have. I will pm you about some pitfalls to this board.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 01/10/2021 17:47

i will pm you about some pitfalls to this board

Thats a good idea

Don’t post biscuits 😱

Or yawn or bless

Not keen on biology on this board…or facts

Erm what else….

Do NOT post a picture of Roz from monsters inc, i fell foul of that one. Which is a shame cos i like Roz

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 01/10/2021 17:52

Okay, I need to know more about this. The wider issues can sit in a wheely chair and spin for the moment.

Is it just Roz, or is there a film-wide ban on the cast of Monsters Inc? Does anyone know?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 01/10/2021 18:15

Just roz 😩

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 01/10/2021 18:24

Is this rozphobia?

CiaoForNiao · 01/10/2021 18:27

What's wrong with Roz? Is it because she's always watching?
