When asked by Nick Ferrari as to whether she agrees that only women have a cervix, she became extremely flustered and refused to say yes, saying 'the debate had become toxic', and 'pits one groups against another'. After being pressed further she said: Only women have a cervix 'is something I would not say'.

A few threads ago there was some speculation that it might be ok to vote Labour again. For me personally, struggling with the UC cut, difficulties with food prices rising, facing freezing or eating due to inflating energy prices, experiencing the cruelty of the disability benefit system, with children facing a lowering of the threshold for repayment of uni loans, sadly, it's still Conservatives who will have to get my vote.
Talking of politicians, what have government ministers had to say recently?

Sajid Javid tweeted this yesterday its been retweeted by number of Tory MPs

twitter.com/sajidjavid/status/1442082718402154498
Some of the truly sincere repsnses on that are quite scary! Like rational human beings can hold so dearly to such circularity of thought and pity others whose ideas take far less explanation - because they are based in logic.

If your ideas take 2 or 3 days to explain you are either Einstein or, in this case, deluded.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 27/09/2021 08:55

That was painful

She ‘doesn’t feel comfortable’ talking about parts of women’s bodies…

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 27/09/2021 08:56

This is fiddling while Rome burns
Well, exactly. It's pulling women (and society in general) away from dealing with other critical issues, but we can't ignore it.

It's like a massive derail of the whole thread of feminist activity, except we have to answer it, or we're sunk.

DysonSphere · 27/09/2021 08:57

@PronounssheRa Grim but a great tweet by Sajid Javid.

I hate the argument that not all women have a cervix, not all humans have two arms but the statement ‘humans have two arms’ is still true.

Westfacing · 27/09/2021 09:00

Thank you for the links.

RR was toe-curlingly, cringeworthy, bloody awful. I can't believe it, don't know what else to say!

It comes to something when Sajid Javid who I normally can't stand, is on the right side.

Artichokeleaves · 27/09/2021 09:05

We've been around and around all this for years on FWR debating and discussing and arguing - it's just been time handed over for ever deepening disdain and derision for females, and oh boy has it been taken advantage of.

No. Done now. Labour have had a powerful hand in pushing this to the point it broke.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 27/09/2021 09:06

Oh my giddy aunt, i was cringing, so embarrassing

DysonSphere · 27/09/2021 09:07

I phoned in but LBC they say they've moved on and wouldn't take my call

DysonSphere · 27/09/2021 09:09

Maybe another presenter will cover it later

I would really hope cervical cancer charities would be all over this, because people NEED to know that women have cervixes. Yes it should be spoken of, and loudly.

Incidentally Fag Ash Lil on the front of the Times isn't doing much for cancer prevention either.

DisappearingGirl · 27/09/2021 09:09

I hate the argument that not all women have a cervix, not all humans have two arms but the statement ‘humans have two arms’ is still true.

Yes exactly. We need to distinguish between being kind to individuals and being allowed to talk about generalised accepted facts.

I wouldn't walk up to a trans person and say "only women have a cervix" just like I wouldn't walk up to a person with one leg and say "humans have two legs", as it would be mean and insensitive.

However it's still true - and important to be able to say - that in general humans have two legs and women have a cervix.

ScribblingPixie · 27/09/2021 09:12

@LolaLouLou

I like Rachel Reeves, she was good on GMB and I think she is better than some of the others.

I don't understand why she doesn't just say women and trans men has cervix. Surely that satisfies the wokesters.

I presume it's because they're terrified of the reaction of trans women. While she was stuttering away she said something like, 'there are two groups - women and trans women' (paraphrasing). No mention of trans men or non binaries at all.
Tibtom · 27/09/2021 09:17

@PronounssheRa

Labour have a script they are following on this, they are all just parroting similar phrases.

I wonder who is really pulling the strings?

This what I was wondering. They are fixed on a script. Everything from denying what 'woman' means to their orchestrated replies of 'transwomen are most marginalised/oppressed/suicidal' every time someone asks a question aboit women.
OhHolyJesus · 27/09/2021 09:20

Jean Hachett was fab and for anyone listening to both interviews would take away one reasonable position, effectively made after listening to the bluster and discomfort of RR. RR even said she doesn't want to talk about women's body parts with anyone whilst JH aid she has ovarian cancer.

One bashful and stammering, the other honest, clear and precise.

As long as this is covered by mainstream media the argument will be made for us.

NotDavidTennant · 27/09/2021 09:22

The problem they have is that the Labour activist base seems pretty thoroughly captured by gender ideology. Hence why they are 'uncomfortable' discussing this because they know if they say anything that can even be remotely interpreted as gender critical than they will recieve the same treatment as Rosie Duffield.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/09/2021 09:26

While she was stuttering away she said something like, 'there are two groups - women and trans women' (paraphrasing). No mention of trans men or non binaries at all.

She did, she decided this was about MTF trans people rather than FTM.

The clip of Jean Hatchet who was excellent

BraveBananaBadge · 27/09/2021 09:30

@MistandMud

Why don’t they look mildly surprised and say, ‘Well, women and girls, all female people do, including some transmen, if we’re being pedantic. Why?’
I thought exactly the same about Starmer yesterday. It's a women's issue and yet every time their immediate reaction is to flap and start bollocking on about trans rights. It's not about that. It's about women.

It all escalates to India Willoughby yelling into the Twitter void that she has a cervix and will show it on TV for proof. There's bound to be people who take that on face value and believe her. It's insane.

PronounssheRa · 27/09/2021 09:31

Also when stuttering and waffling she said something like 'I don't want to talk about womens bodies'

She knows, we know she knows, she just won't say it.

Jaysmith71 · 27/09/2021 09:32

"But look, ...uh, ....uh, ...uh, ....is it transphobic, ...uh, ...look, ...uh, ...I don't even know how to start answering this question..."

Used to admire that woman.

TedImgoingmad · 27/09/2021 09:42

Well she somewhat gave the game away there didn't she? In saying "I don't feel comfortable talking about parts of women's bodies," she acknowledges that a cervices are part of WOMEN'S bodies. She needs to be cancelled immediately.

And how can Labour, on the one hand, put transpeople at the forefront of their social justice and equality policies as THE MOST MARGINALISED; but on the other, claim that the issues of genitalia/body parts - which are very much on the mind of transpeople, especially those suffering from gender dysphoria and seeking NHS assistance through hormones and surgery - aren't something they have thought about and don't want to talk about. They would not get away with that for any other policy they are pushing - and they are pushing GRC reform, TW rights to the female prison estate, allowing under 18s to undergo life changing medical treatment etc etc.

Version4needsabitofwork · 27/09/2021 09:46

@WindBlowAutumnDays

Why not focus on who has a scrotum?
I think this is an excellent idea and would certainly help clarify Labour's position on this.

Let's just stick to the facts.

The answer is: nearly all men and around 99% of transwomen*.

*Happy to be corrected on this stat, it's a google wormhole I'd rather not go down to be honest

morningtoncrescent62 · 27/09/2021 10:09

This thread from Labour Women's Declaration is good - they're offering to help the Labour front bench stop making prats of themselves. Shame they're unlikely to get anywhere but good on them for trying.
