Labour Party Conference - when are these issues going to be discussed?

I've checked the timetable, but there is no mention of a discussion of trans issues. Will it come up in a fringe meeting (I can't see a timetable for these)? Surely Labour have to have some debate about this?
Or are they going to stick their fingers in their ears and go 'la la la'.

There is a meeting on women's rights over the dates of the conference. It's not organised by Labour, it's not part of the conference but has been arranged by Labour women's declaration.

The location is being kept secret and they have had to hire private security for fear of repeat from 2019

I suspect most Labour MPs will pretend it's not happening

Thanks, I follow them on twitter, so I look forward to hearing about it. What a world though!

Some of what happened in 2019 mobile.twitter.com/janeclarejones/status/1176207467526676485

The police did nothing the Labour Party did nothing

I remember the speech from the podium at the conference, afterwards, criticising the women who dared to hold the meeting. And, don't forget, one of the TRAs outside the meeting works for Angela Rayner.

Wow, I didn't even know that stuff like that was even happening in 2019! So depressing that much of the mob sounded female, too...Shocking...

There's another thread, about a motion put forward by North Shropshire
mobile.twitter.com/shaunjlawson/status/1441664061926694919
but the thread says that it is being objected etc.

Absolutely shocking that a meeting on women's rights has to resort to these secretive tactics so they don't experience violence/hatred/protesting. Society really is going backwards.

Marr just asked Sadiq Kahn about Rosie Duffields safety at conference. His response was to tell Marr that 1 out of 4 trans teenagers tried to kill themselves.

megletthesecond · 26/09/2021 09:46

Keir is being a knob about it on Marr right now.

SapphosRock · 26/09/2021 09:49

Andrew Marr right now.

Oh Keir Starmer.

That was a great opportunity for him to mention the importance of women's rights but he couldn't even bring himself to use the word woman.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/09/2021 09:53

I'm sure I heard him say that it's wrong to say women have a cervix?
That's what women are up against - men like Starmer who believe our bodies and speaking about them is transphobic.

Fitt · 26/09/2021 10:04

His words were " it shouldn't be said".

Bloody hilarious. Toast.

GCYY · 27/09/2021 16:10

Did Anneliese Dodds say anything about trans issues?

334bu · 27/09/2021 16:18

I think you meant when are they going to discuss women's rights. However, as they seem to have mislaid the words to describe 52% of the population, I think we will be waiting a long time.
