PatsArrow did a better job, I should have refreshed after looking through my notes.

ChaToilLeam · 24/09/2021 13:34

Had to miss the second half, but the first part was superb. All these intelligent impassioned people speaking clearly and with consideration - no obfuscation, no exaggeration, no histrionics. This is the kind of clear headed discussion we need.

Masdintle · 24/09/2021 13:36

The bit about question 3 about publicly-funded institutions displaying Pride flags and Stonewall stuff is that it's a political statement where they should be apolitical and completely neutral eg police and NHS. Makes people feel vulnerable approaching them as they may be judged transphobic and hounded or refused help

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/09/2021 13:43

Thanks for the youtube links. Glad I'll be able to catch up, these are important discussions.

JustcameoutGC · 24/09/2021 13:46

Thanks all. In my building we had a big Pride rainbow installation in the lobby. A few years ago it would have brought a huge smile to my face. Now, I see it as a symbol of coersion and oppression of women.

JoodyBlue · 24/09/2021 13:49

I watched it too. All the speakers are fantastic. This session in particular I thought Helen's speech was blistering. She spoke of her anger at people in safeguarding paid good money not doing their jobs. She talked of cowardice. I thougth she was really excellent. Lord Wasserman says later in the recording that MPs wont put their heads above the parapet because they don't want to fall out with their children. Emma says then they "have no business being in parliament". Such straight talking. Such a relief to hear. The minutes and recording usually go up on the website a few days after the meeting.childrenandwomenfirst.org/

"is it time to repeal the GRA for its unintended consequences for the rights of women and children."

This is a good site to read some reasons why repeal of the GRA should be looked at.

Worth a read.

oldwomanwhoruns · 25/09/2021 08:24

The Lord Wasserman comment wasn't actually relating to MPs, it was about PCCs. He had had a meeting of Conservative PCCs. They said that they were under pressure from their children not to speak on this issue.

Yes the Baroness did say that they should not then be in parliament, and was corrected, but her point was so good. Lord Wasserman then said "We are in big trouble if the PCCs are unable to speak out".

Graham Linehan then rephrased it very well by saying "adults are being held hostage by their children. They need to stand up to their children. They are going to get women killed."

Quote may not be word perfect, it's from my notes. I noted it down as I'm trying to arrange a mtg with my PCC right now!!

@Masdintle

Sorry it was Stephen Timms MP who didn't believe Posie. Glinner has put him right
Just wondering what Stephen Timms and the Right Rev whomever think today in the light of The Lancet 's cover about bodies with vaginas - or are they willing to disbelieve the evidence of their own eyes?

Anybody waiting for the sympathetic BBC or MSM coverage that explains to us why this is absolutely inclusive but there's no need to adopt comparable dehumanisation for men?

oldwomanwhoruns · 25/09/2021 16:28

Yes yes, such a shame that Stephen Timms MP was only on a phone and had to leave.

He clearly has NO CLUE about the silencing of women's voices on the BBC, on this issue. And presumably he has no knowledge of the nonsense that the bBC are feeding children (I am Leo etc). If he had hung around a bit longer, our wonderful speakers might have been able to tell him what is going on.

I do hope that he watches the replay of the webinar?

OvaHere · 27/09/2021 14:32

The videos of these webinars are now on YouTube.

Well worth watching.

OvaHere · 27/09/2021 21:33

Bumping for the evening crowd. Please have a watch especially the first video. Really informative discussion.

NecessaryScene · 28/09/2021 06:59

Bumping this, as I'm watching it and it is great.

Helen is furious. Quite rightly. (I think she almost swore, but stopped herself Grin)

Veeta · 28/09/2021 09:05

Thanks for posting the link Ova. I was intending to look for this as I missed it live, but I’d totally forgotten to follow up. It’s a fantastic watch.
