Bloody Stonewall

In todays Times is signed letter from a lady in Devon commenting about how women are not prepared to lose hard won rights especially the attempted removal of legal recognition of her sex. No longer willing to tolerate misogynistic elite groups.
(I wonder if she realises the risk she is running by going public).
I shall send her a postcard to congratulate her for the letter.

She is at no risk from Times readers, OP! We are very much in the gender critical camp.
The Times’ journalists (especially Janice Turner) have been doing sterling work in challenging the misogyny and homophobia of the transgender movement.
Online comments from readers under any pro GC article are very supportive and encouraging. By and large, Times readers are intelligent enough to know that

  1. humans cannot change sex and 2) women need single sex spaces for safety, privacy and dignity.
willrufford · 22/09/2021 09:39

@Babdoc I agree but as there was a fairly long item criticising Stonewall yesterday, I would be surprised if the woke crowd were not monitoring the letters page.

Ooh, do you have a link to the Stonewall article, @willrufford?
Thx!

I’m considering getting an online subscription to the Times because of this.

They often have an offer on FrancescaContini:

www.thetimes.co.uk/subscribe/digital/

This is nowhere near the best I've seen, but if you cancel within the relevant period, you have to phone up and there's a good chance they'll do you a deal with a lower monthly rate than stated.

TipseyTorvey · 22/09/2021 18:57

Another Times reader subscriber here. Fully GC (willing to engage with debate, think transwomen should be respected as transwomen) and support women's only spaces. The guardian is lost in la la twaw land.

TooWicked · 22/09/2021 19:02

I unsubscribed from the Times about 2-3 years ago in a fit of pique over their coverage (and lack of) regarding these issues, they appear to have done a complete about turn, I may have to resubscribe.

OhHolyJesus · 22/09/2021 19:05

Is it this one OP? Looks like she's getting some love on Twitter already.

The Times have been great with their coverage. What's even better is that their male readers are increasingly onboard. Having started out as sceptical or hostile there's very few who don't respond intelligently and supportively to recent articles - the Rosie Duffield articles being an example.

I don't have a share token, sorry, but I'm sure there will be an archive version www.thetimes.co.uk/article/how-stonewall-became-the-new-establishment-thxd6877k

Thanks so much - I will look into this 😊

Slightly off point, but I’ve recently found out that the student subscription price that I was able to get for ‘The Times’ a few years ago is the price I pay for life. So I’ll apparently pay £2.17 per month for online subs until I die!

And yes, have to agree that The Times gives good coverage and allows fair comment on trans issues. Also published some good articles about Zuckerberg and FB’s dodgy practices recently which I’m glad to see.

Binting · 22/09/2021 22:33

Apple have an offer at the moment for 1 month free Apple One Premier membership, which includes News+ (the Times and Sunday Times are included in News+)

OhHolyJesus · 22/09/2021 22:47

I think it's £3 for 3 months at the moment.

NowtSalamander · 22/09/2021 22:55

I went for the Times because of Janice and have to admit I’ve never looked back (despite being a bit sad about giving money to murdoch). This is the most important cause to me at the moment and they are doing a fantastic job talking about it. Agree about great comments, inc from men too.

Really came on to say that I recommend the deal I have which I really enjoy: I pay £13 a month and get online access which I love but also crucially for my husband a paper copy of the Sunday Times every Sunday. This really works for us.

MiladyBerserko · 22/09/2021 22:59

I have a sub and it's totally worth it. Stopped contributions to the Guardian. I had read the Guardian since my late teens, but they can fuck off.

WhatMattersMost · 23/09/2021 10:52

My Times sub was the full £27, which I couldn't justify, so I called to cancel - and was offered £2.60 for 6 months, which I'll take. I'll then call again in 6 months' time.
