Man with a history of violence against women sadistically beats, rapes and murders a complete stranger. Once he's convicted, he suddenly realises he's trans. He gets put in a women's holding prison. Everyone pretends he's a woman just like the woman he murdered was and makes it their mission to defend him and get him to serve his sentence in a woman's prison.

No I won't refer to him with female pronouns. I'm incandescent with rage. I cannot believe how misogynistic this world is. Why????

It seems that there is nothing that can be done in relation to a country like Canada. We just have to stand by and watch until the numbers of women and children harmed by all this escalates to a level where people start to take notice.

Because people are terrified of being bigots, and the TRA movement has used that to make them feel like a TW should be treated as a woman in every possible way, and a TW is any male who says he is, and not agreeing with this makes you a bigot along the lines of the worst imaginable racists or homophobes – et voila.

It does make no sense, and things will change - I'm certain of that. Because it will go very, very tits up. It's just awful and tragic having to watch this happen so slowly and wait for the penny to drop while women are being harmed and intimidated.

It's incomprehensible. I'm finally reading Helen Joyce's book and it's very helpful in explaining how all this has happened.

The feelings and choices of a male takes precedence over the feelings, choices and actual human rights/physical safety of females.

This is the message we have to share far and wide to the female electorate. Do you want a government that believes you are second class subordinate humans? And will treat you accordingly?

While releasing bullshit at the same time about vague concerns around VAWG apparently demonstrating the right hand has no idea the left hand even exists, and less joined up thinking than the average local corner shop can manage.

Very few people think this is Ok. But it is the result of well funded TRA groups capturing governments, organisations and charities to pretend there will be no problems. And of course rampant misogyny that is not listening to women. The argument about surgery or not is irrelevant . Men can still be dangerous to women whatever their identity or if they have undergone feminisation surgery. Isn’t the election in Canada this week?

I saw this case on Twitter earlier and I'd like to say I can't believe it but these are daily events now. The thing about totalitarianism is that its adherents can see the injustices and cruelties enacted in its name but they think its ultimate goal is worth it. Nobody is fooled by this man but there are people who will overlook the unfairness and danger here because getting everyone to chant 'Trans Women Are Women!' is more important to them. It's a men's rights movement.

We're also asked to believe that men's prisons are utter hell for transwomen. I reckon it was hell for many old school transsexuals, but the authorities need to ask themselves why so many men declare they are women only once in the system. The benefits obviously outweigh any risks.

It may well be hell for TW in mens prisons.

But that can be addressed, perfectly, properly, in a way that totally solves the problem, without making female prisons hell for female prisoners.

Because it isn't about safety. It's about the right of access to female humans as a resource that male humans have entitlement to. Female consent and female collateral damage is not considered worth considering.

And no OP, you're not unreasonable at all to be outraged at this. They are clearly calculating and lacking morality and remorse - just look at how carefully crafted their attempts at a legal defence were. When that didn't quite work they have declared themselves trans to access a woman's prison. Utterly sickening.

And on so many of these threads you get people basically saying that it serves the female right for committing a crime and being sent to prison….honestly shocking

That second link... It's shocking that these people seem to have absolutely no common.sense or understanding. These violent and experienced criminals are easily pulling the wool over their eyes.

Statistics alone should be making it clear to people there's something totally dodgy going on. Hugely elevated rates of suddenly realising you're trans among male sex offenders and violent offenders hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm come on it can't be that hard to see!

The obvious answer is trans prisons or totally unconnected trans wings and there is no reason why that can't happen. They should build them and make sure all trans-identifying prisoners go to them (or have the option to stay with their own sex). Then track the stats again and see if the same trend continues.

Yes of course there are womens campaign groups but they are just as silenced as those in the UK, possibly even more silenced. I dont think anyone wants to believe it but honestly Women dont matter. Its that simple.

I expect he would be viewed as a man if he did the same thing to Sophie Trudeau, or any of Canada's wealthy elites.
