Thanks for that share token Milady. It will be interesting to see where this goes

ArabellaScott · 17/09/2021 09:06

Just saw that. Very interesting indeed.

"Couched though it is in the careful language of the civil service, this criticism is as sharp a rebuke as a public body can get from an official regulator,”

Amazing, it's almost as though people want stats and data to be accurate so its useful, rather than a flag for a confused ideology.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 17/09/2021 09:20

The Times Scotland have been covering all this insanity daily. It's depressing to see just how far down the trans rabbit hole Scotland is.

ArabellaScott · 17/09/2021 10:06

Isn't it just, Mrs Overton.

InvisibleDragon · 17/09/2021 11:08

Thank you for the share token. Really hope the guidance changes because this is nonsense. It doesn't even meet the needs of trans people. If the census is used to eg estimate the future need for gender clinics, it is in everyone's interests to know how many people who identify as trans are MtF vs FtM. You can't get that out of the data if (some) people don't answer the sex question with their actual birth sex.

Fawnor · 17/09/2021 21:59

They don't care about their statistics being on the same basis as the rest of the UK though.

nauticant · 17/09/2021 22:11

If Scotland decides that it wants a reality that's different from a facts-based reality, then this will be yet another thing that makes me wonder whether independence will suit both Scotland and EW&NI.

ArabellaScott · 17/09/2021 22:15

It's not 'Scotland' that wants this, though, nauticant. It's the tiny wee powerful elite currently governing us. Sad

nauticant · 17/09/2021 22:26

I know, and I feel very sad about this. But nationalism is bad enough while nationalism based on pick and choose reality gives me the horrors. The precedents!

I'm thinking of a major move in the next few years and in the past had always had Scotland on my list. But a year or so back I regretfully removed it. I wish it could be otherwise, I'll be having my second holiday in Scotland this year in a month's time.

ArabellaScott · 17/09/2021 22:52

I'd say I'm hopeful current govt are on their way out, but they are still high in the polls, I think. Presume we're heading for another bloody referendum and then more fighting about the result ad infinitum ...

Anyway. Hope you have a lovely holiday. Wave if you're passing!
