The answer might be no but are there are any organisations that speak to young people about gender identity and don't conflate sex and gender. So in a way that supports and educates about non-binary people without saying sex is an imaginary construct?

Sorry should have explained - this is because my college wants to get someone in to talk about gender identity. I know some to avoid but wondered if there was anyone who could come in and not do harm by teaching it factually!

I can't imagine what they would say? What 'factual' information could they possibly give? Confused

Well I suppose how to support people who feel that their gender (social construct) doesn't align with their sex (biology) and feel distressed by this or want to be known differently to reflect this. Or how to support people with gender dysphoria.

A shortcut to what I mean- are there any organisations supporting trans people who would say "women and trans women" rather than claiming trans women are part of the women group and there is no difference between them.

Probably there are quite a lot of feminists who would be happy and able to talk about how gender is a made up thing, consisting of stereotypes?

Babdoc · 14/09/2021 09:42

I second Arabella.
Get a GC feminist speaker in to warn of the dangers of social contagion, of transing away the gay, of telling autistics that they are trans when they don’t fit peer norms.
Explain that gender stereotypes are a straitjacket benefiting only the patriarchy.
That a girl who enjoys football is a future Lucy Bronze, not a transboy. Etc.
Because someone sure as hell needs to, before we lose a generation of girls to mastectomies and “wrong sex” hormone treatments, causing permanent damage.

I think transgender trend may have had people do talks at school. You could contact them to find out who might be a good person/ org to ask.

SafeSchools alliance, too, perhaps.

Thank you for the recommendations. It is becoming a very very difficult situation to manage in education at the moment. Very difficult and inescapable

Do contact safe schools alliance to discuss options in that case, and TT
