I just joined Bannatyne's Gym

Duncan Bannatyne is sticking up for women on Twitter. I was a member of my local Bannatyne's 10+ years ago and was looking for a gym to join since mine closed down.

Bannatyne's was the obvious choice as it offers genuine single sex changing areas, as a bonus it's bloody lovely and VERY reasonably priced too.

100% recommend.

In fact have there been trans people coming in to challenge?

In other things that said female stuff for female there's usually been massive pushback.

I remember DB tweet there was very little.

Where's the protests etc?

He seems to be getting some pushback on Twitter right now for retweeting Glinner and others, but agree it's noticeable that there are no protests outside of his gyms.

Anyway, I really like my Bannatyne's gym, lovely pool area, loungers, discounts in the spa, large gym, huge array of classes including lots of strength classes which I need as I'm a strength training avoider.

The reception staff are really friendly and welcoming and all of the instructors I've met so far have been amazing and also very friendly.

£41 a month for South East.

It's great.

It is, it's a great price. Really well equipped, massive, well eqipped and modern changing rooms (not a peni in sight), sauna, steam room, cafe, lovely pool, large studio for group classes and a smaller studio for spin. Mahoosive and very air conditioned main gym with tons of cardio equipment and weights. Cheaper than loads of shitter gyms in the area. I'm all in.

Well timed! Probably outing af in terms of location, but my Virgin active has just this week become a Bannatynes. Levelling up!

I have to say - I always liked him on dragons den. He reminds me of the no-nonsense, bit gruff Glaswegian fella who knows his own mind and won’t be bullies. Definitely ‘a type’ of Glaswegian man (although the way it’s going in Scotland right now, I have no idea where they’ve all gone)

Hubby and I are members of our local Bannatyne Gym too. We love it. Great equipment, friendly staff and spotlessly clean 🙂 It’s great to know that Duncan is defending women to boot!

Wish there was one near me, I'd definitely choose it as I'd feel safer and supported using their facilities knowing their policies. Would love to be able to make more positive choices for businesses like this, rather than having to boycott those that are the opposite, or having a general sense of knowing I'd be 'on my own' if any unpleasant incident should occur in the majority of places that don't have an explicit policy. I generally avoid places altogether in the end, no point paying to feel like your rights and needs are unimportant.

(I was once present at a 'changing room incident' back in the 90s before all of this was a thing. It was dealt with with righteous indignation and women telling the man, who was high on the thrill of it all, to get out of the changing room or they'd call the police. Obviously that wouldn't work now.)

Good for him! Have now discovered that there is a Bannatynes twenty minutes from me, so I’m going to get a day pass and check it out.

Happy to support businesses who take my strong preference for single sex changing facilities seriously.
