Predators will find themselves any way to prey and it's so often through the caring occupations that confer a halo on them.
Absolutely this. Caring occupations have two valuable characteristics for predators - as you say, they confer a halo, but they also provide easy access to victims. Patients are in a very vulnerable position, often weak, trapped, unable to move. (This is why Jimmy Savile spent so much time volunteering in hospitals.)
I suspect there is far more abuse going on in hospitals, care homes and even in ordinary doctor-patient interactions than people realise. The only reason this case came to light was because the poor woman became pregnant.
