Does anyone know anything about this group? They are ostensibly about disabled children but their logo prominently features LBGTQ+ colours. letuslearntoo.com/

I dont know much but have been part of SEND Crisis and they a promoting it.

The government looks set to be weakening disabled childrens rights to access an education in favour of local authorities and a lot of us are very nervous about this as its hard to enforce our rights as it us but at least the law is in our favour.

I actually think the colours probably represent the diversity of different disabilities and cultures. Certainly the asd communinty often have infinity rainbows to respresent them.

I have become very cynical of late but I don't for one moment think it is a coincidence that they have chosen the lbqt+ colours.

Im actually really depressed that the first comment about this campaing for disabled childrens rights has focused on the fact it might have hinted at including lbqt children in the logo. Its a specific response to the SEND review that has been sat on by the government.

Childrens lives are being destroyed by SEND provision

twinkletoedelephant · 06/09/2021 08:08

Huge send crisis in Surrey. I have 3 dc with sen nothing is straightforward everything is stretched to the last minute..the cheapest option. People are spending £££ just to get their dc a school place.
We were "lucky" we didn't have to go to court but dc3 was out of school for 3 months as no school was allocated to him.

Children needing an ehcp are routinely refused to even assess needs.. parents have to fight for everything to combate the complete lack of support and care to children who just want to learn.

Tibtom · 06/09/2021 08:29

The colours all round the edge are hardly just a hint! And the fact disabled children's provision is in crisis makes it a perfect Trojan horse. Lbgqt+ in no way represents my disabled child. It is forced teaming.

Well i have read the website, looked at the founders and watched the video. To date the focus is on disabled childrens access to education and the SEND review.

WIS76 · 06/09/2021 08:47

No, their logo doesn't have the LBGTQ+ colours on it, it's just a band of different colours. What you're seeing isn't there. commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gay_Pride_Flag.svg

Akire · 06/09/2021 08:49

I follow them On Twitter they do lots work try get kids an education when often denied. Parents of Disabled kids often left fight basic assessment never mind getting reports recommendations followed. They do use the exact 12 rainbow and Trans flag colours but never heard reference the “rainbow”. Most likely the person designing logo had personal preference and small nod for those “in the know”.

This is main LGTB++++ flag they are the exact colours. It only matters when other minority groups equally fighting for change feel like rainbow gets everywhere. When the community has massive power and influence and other areas bearly get look in.

You have to open the image to see the pink and white

Barely gets a look in is about right for SEND. I cant see this group having any impact whatsoever on the government whether there logo has the rainbow flag on it or not. I feel very weary and believe SEND provision will only get worse

Elephantsparade · 06/09/2021 09:04

@Tibtom - would you be brave enough to aak the founders why their logo pairs with another cause as it concerns you a lot.

Enough4me · 06/09/2021 09:05

Are they in the Stonewall group? (Pay for 'training' and 'advice'?)

Tibtom · 06/09/2021 09:07

Whether intentional of not it is still forced teaming. By supporting this initiative the branding implies I support transideology, the removal of girls boundaries, and all the dubious 'queer' initiatives. It also suggests this lobby group speak for my child when they do not.

OP posts:
Tibtom · 06/09/2021 09:08

'this lobby group' being stonewall et al

OP posts:
zen1 · 06/09/2021 09:15

I am very wary that Stonewall etc are trying to infiltrate special schools. One secondary LA one I went to look round a couple of years ago had a classroom display of flags for the different genders (at least 10 different ones) to celebrate pride month that the children had coloured in and labelled. I was particularly alarmed because my DC would have no concept of what was being taught. I sent him out of borough for that reason.
Agree though that the government are trying to water down SEND provision even more. It is exhausting trying to secure the right education / therapies / provision.

If only I could Sad I campaign in another field and if I came out as GC that would be gone and at the moment I can make GC 'nudges' too.

Have they used it to make the government pay attention? They're happy to ignore everyone else but they take much more care not to get on the wrong side of the LGBTQ+ lobby.
