With recent developments in the US on Roe vs Wade there is a flurry of statements on social media from celebs and organisations —Amnesty— all using powerful punch language right up until you get to ‘pregnant people’ ‘people who are pregnant’ ‘those who are pregnant’
I understand the need to be inclusive and we’ve discussed on here the erasure of the word women ... I engaged with the debate. This feels so wrong though. This ridiculous tautology when the issue is so so important for WOMEN... it’s brought home to me how much damage we are doing to ourselves here, it feels as though we need to unite and mobilise and make sure we include women WOMEN not be afraid of the correct name for ourselves. I don’t know, you guys express this so much better than me but I’ve got rage today for where we find ourselves

If it were men who were getting pregnant you can be sure that no one would suggest banning abortions. It's integral to the argument that it is WOMEN.
