Scandal brewing in Northern Ireland. Trans lobby group giving out binders without any semblance of safeguarding.

That’s shocking. Why do people not know about this?

LizzieSiddal · 01/09/2021 22:17

Encourages harmful binding & tucking and puberty blockers, has guidance for 'safe' BDSM, 'sex work'.

Wtaf?!

Aparallaxia · 01/09/2021 22:55

Link to the guide:

Here's one gem: other sex guides are useless because...
'...these usually aren’t written by
trans and non-binary people – lots of them mention men
having certain bodies and women having other bodies, and
very little about non-binary people.

'Your body is yours, no matter what your gender is. So are
your genitals, and it’s OK to use them for pleasure,
procreation or both as long as you want to. Two trans guys
having sex are having gay sex if they say they are, and a trans
woman and a cisgender man are having heterosexual sex if
that’s how they define it.

'How you identify doesn’t determine how you have sex, or
what you have to call it. You can call your genitals whatever
makes you comfortable, and you can have sex in any ways
that make you happy too.'

IOW: the term 'gender' has no content. None.

PS I'd like to use the names of genitals to refer to the authors of this piece of garbage.

PaleGreenGhost · 01/09/2021 22:59

What a load of dangerous, gaslighty crap.

Good luck with the 'procreation' part (if that's what you want) with this attitude...

Slightly reminiscent of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campaign_for_the_neologism_%22santorum%22 Grin

This promotes binding, tucking and group sex for young people. It normalises prostitution. It normalises and fosters BDSM.

What kind of society have we become to encourage our children and youth that getting sexual thrills out of one person having power over another person is okay.

And to make it a part of sex education.

And to have it endorsed by health trusts.... Shock

Lifeinthelastlane · 02/09/2021 10:09

Although this may be available in NI, can any NI mumsnetters say if it is actually in use in any school there? From my limited knowledge I would think NI is the last place in the U.K. who would promote this stuff in school!

MouseandCat · 02/09/2021 10:20

Two health and social care trusts co-produced this booklet and their logos are on it. Some NI schools and the Education Authority link to the organisation which promotes it and has the booklet on its website. The organisation is presented as an appropriate RSE resource. The same organisation has been widely consulted by health care orgs, universities, civil service etc.

Lifeinthelastlane · 02/09/2021 10:22

Good grief Shock
