I thought I just saw a thread on this, has it gone?!

So pleased for her.

Little OJ is trying to crawl backwards fast, but can anyone guess if he:

A) thought the male candidate should stand down, or
B) thought the female candidate should stand down?

I like that she's already talking about women being overlooked and sexism.

Does she recognise sex or is she a genderist, does anyone know?

AnyOldPrion · 25/08/2021 12:56

She sounds like a breath of fresh air. Whatever her view on gender politics, I feel like the groups that are meant to support workers need a massive overhaul. I hope this is the beginning of a new era.

No pronouns in her twitter bio which is a good start. Also seems to talk freely of 'women'

Good to see

NonnyMouse1337 · 25/08/2021 15:22

Congratulations to Sharon Graham! It sounds like she's had to endure sexist behaviour from others because she was aiming for the leadership position. All the best in her new role.

Jaysmith71 · 25/08/2021 15:35

She seems to have this wacky 'hard left' idea that a trade union should concentrate on securing better terms and conditions for its members rather than throwing its weight around on the Labour Party NEC.

It'll never catch on.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2021 15:35

I don't know what she thinks about 'gender' but she sounds like a sensible woman, so I'm hopeful.

Hopefully as her focus is on the workplace and actually listening to workers then maybe she'll do the unusual and listen to women in the work place as well and not the male dominated lobby groups.
Fingers crossed.

Floisme · 25/08/2021 18:25

If she has kept her views on sex and gender to herself then that sounds promising. However, I'm trying not to get my hopes up because quite honestly I think the trade union movement is captured with no rescue in sight. I'll be delighted if I'm wrong.

CaptainSmartarse · 25/08/2021 19:24

Good on her ! I'm not in Unite but I know a few folk who are and it seemed everyone expected one of the blokes to win. Apparently she campaigned very hard and went out and spoke to loads of workers on the job. The abuse she has received is appalling . I do hope she is gender critical though .

Mango1982 · 26/08/2021 09:36

Good for her however the left have been so captured even is she’s not loving the gender woo woo she will go along I doubt very much len thinks men can change sex and yet
