What does anyone make of this development? Appears to be a career civil servant, I can't find anything re: women's rights or his stance on LGBT www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/our-work/news/marcial-boo-appointed-chief-executive-officer

Hmm. He was in the DfE which was totally captured by Stonewall along with all the other dangerous lobby groups who were given funding and power to undermine safeguarding, promote parental alienation and gaslight children into believing they can change sex. So I'd be quite sceptical about someone coming from there given their lack of due diligence about child welfare and safeguarding.
But, people can change and as all the red flags are now flying with what's happening to so many children, it's possible that he recognises the harm that's been done?

I've just looked at his linkedin which says he was in the DfE from 1996-2002 which long pre-dates everything you mention @mrsovertonswindow.

Well that's a relief. It's hard not to be sceptical looking at the extent of regulatory capture in government and the civil service, but hopefully.....

"I am delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to lead the EHRC and its important responsibilities. The work of the organisation covers all our lives and I am joining at an exciting time in the development of the next strategic plan. I look forward to meeting and working with the team and with all those promoting and upholding equality and human rights in England, Scotland and Wales".

I'm suspending judgement but find the phrase the organisation covers all our lives encouraging as it echoes what Liz Truss says.

Just a reminder there's an open consultation which would be worth contributing to.
EHRC consulting on their stategic plan 2022-25 deadline 30 Sept.
