Good on them!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/08/2021 14:57

This is very brave and principled.

@WeAreTheWomen

I'm glad to see the tweet as I was asked to support View Magazine and wasn't really clear about their position.

But also - dare I ask what SJB said. I tried googling but couldn't find anything.

Thanks

This incident was also discussed here:

Helleofabore · 18/08/2021 15:09

Oh.... that Sarah Jane Baker!

GreyhoundG1rl · 18/08/2021 15:09

A solicitor is claiming the sign was "misunderstood" 🤔
Anyone know what their arguement was?!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/08/2021 15:09

It seems pretty unequivocally clear to me.

What else could "Kill JKR" mean? Did they explain?

Tesla73 · 18/08/2021 15:23

So a picture of a ribbon is so obviously an incitement to hate and violence but "Kill JKR" is too nuanced and woolly for us to grasp

Tesla73 · 18/08/2021 15:24

Hopefully their sales will increase now and be yet another sign that "woke = broke" listening to your audience/customers = success

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/08/2021 15:29

Oh! That SJB!

Artist, author, sex worker and Britain's longers serving trans prisoner, 30 years of a life sentence in the male estate. In for kidnap and torture, extended for attempted murder of a fellow inmate.

Ran for political office, wanted free utilities, admission in to Kew etc for anyone on UC and all sorts of other daftness.

That SJB

GreyhoundG1rl · 18/08/2021 15:30

Yes, that one. Poor misunderstood creature that they are.

" The fact that Sarah's righteous anger amounted to a crime is a limp excuse for her exclusion. I don't condone incitement of any harm either, but the steps taken have been highly questionable. The magazine includes contributions from those including members of the judiciary who are known among critical circles for failing to enfranchise one of the most ostracised groups in society i.e. transwomen. Your comments about single sex spaces form part of that tradition of ostracism, and whilst I appreciate you say you are just learning (we all are) I can't in good conscience contribute to a publication founded on these principles."

Hell yeah! Them ribbons are murder, man!

Thanks, ItsAllGoingToBeFine
What a loud of utter twaddle, though 🤨

I'm sorry but what an absolute, bleeding-heart TWAT.

This person is provably violent and dangerous. "Righteous anger" my arse (isn't this always the way they justify TRA threats, if they acknowledge they happen at all?)?

And "most ostracised' (is that another way of saying 'most marginalised'?). Are they fuck!

If anyone is "still learning", it's this pompous windbag of a solicitor. Although if a violent, convicted felon can't persuade them that something is a bit off here, what the fuck could?

Jaysmith71 · 18/08/2021 15:41

Sharp edges, those ribbons.

FindTheTruth · 18/08/2021 15:47

that solicitor's something! you dare to allow women to speak who would not enfranchise 'the most ostracised group in society'. They're just writing about women prisoners in a system that fails them.

Baker is quoted as saying, “The problem is we’re not all in for shoplifting. Some of them are some of the worst child sex offenders in the world. They’ve committed some horrendous crimes.”

Only a man could be so laissez-faire about allowing such a violent person into women's spaces, and calling not allowing them in "ostracisation".

They don't see us, our lives, our vulnerabilities and our fears as real, do they?

ArabellaScott · 18/08/2021 15:59

View magazine:

'Started as a prison publication by women in prison, paid content is by serving women prisoners, women on license and those affected by the incarceration of women. We are guided by an Advisory Board of women with lived experience, leading and other legal professionals and parliamentarians who lead our campaigns for justice reform. '

Sounds great.
