This needs sharing far and wide

Disgusting that Starmer has not made any comment on this but also why arent the media berating him for this too?

It was the same under Corbyn - the msm went to every length to undermine him when in one fell swoop they could have destroyed him by publicly reporting on where he and his party stand on self ID and womens rights. One front page photo of him and Liam Madigan would have ended his reign way earlier.

Now we get the same with Starmer a leader who is absolutely dreadful and is running Labour into the ground - if I was a Tory or a reporter on one of the more right leaning papers/news outlets I would be all over this

I have heard about this training video before, I thought it was for local use, I hadn't realised it had been used across the country seemingly with the approval of the Labour Party.

Tesla73 · 11/08/2021 14:22

Its shocking that they have been allowed to get away with that. Its not over the top to say that they have put this women in danger due to their immature actions

I can only presume that the Labour party members responsible for this video were totally ok with putting this woman in a position where she is open to attack. It would have been perfectly possible, if they wanted to use this incident as an example of supposed transphobia, to obscure the woman's face and also the personal details on the membership card you can see in the photo. They chose not to.

Tesla73 · 11/08/2021 14:42

Yep - just like when Liam Madigan bragged on Twitter about how now he was womens officer he'd have access to all that "lovely data" about women in the party.

This is what happens when you pander to dangerous men masquerading as women and give them power within the party.

Wonder how many of them joined up because the party caters to their PIE tendencies.

Just like alot of us rejoined the party when Corbyn became leader as we vainly hoped the party was going to change for the better I'll wager that alot of ex-PIE members also rejoined as the party started to re-align with their values

FFS labour I don’t want to keep destroying my ballot (or vote conservative) but you’re continuing to make it impossible to vote Labour

Tesla73 · 11/08/2021 14:48

Labour are finished and the left in general - there really is now party in this country I can now give my vote to even tactically instead I'll just have to go on spoiling my ballot too.

The next GE is a write off as it seems more and more likely that Starmer is planning a LW alliance with the Lib Dems & Greens. Not only will that fail because even combined I'd say none of them have enough support to win against the Tories but also they'll never be able to function as they'll destroy themselves trying to show which party is the most woke and hates women the most.

Imagine a town hall meeting with Starmer and whatever faceless sap is fronting the LD & Greens at the moment all on one stage!

She is as smart as a whip. It is hard to see what Starmer is trying to achieve. Expel the leftists and cave to the genderloons? To what purpose? Can't see millions of votes in that plan.

Jaysmith71 · 11/08/2021 15:15

You don't have to be an eminent QC and former DPP to spot the legal jeopardy in that.

Starman or Starmouse?

OldTurtleNewShell · 11/08/2021 15:57

It's absolutely extraordinary that anyone would think that was okay. Even with the level of narcissim currently demonstrated by certain sectors.
I used to be a Labour member and now I can't imagine voting for them again.
The only thing that might change my mind is a massive about-turn from them. I'd want an enquiry into institutional misogyny in the party that results in real and effective change, and open and clear support for women's rights.
I'd also have to see a full and unreserved apology from Starmer, preferably along with his resignation. Because this shitstorm is happening under his watch.

Artichokeleaves · 11/08/2021 16:32

There is nothing that Starmer could say that I would now believe. I've seen way too much 'say nothing, throw the occasional crumb and wait until you get into power' lack of integrity.

Labour is dead in the water. Let it go down. Swim for your lives. I hope eventually that a group of sane socialist mid left politicians emerge and a new party arises. It will be gladly turned to by the increasing number of politically homeless women, reduced to voting for which ever male led, male focused party looks like harming women's rights most slowly and with the least enthusiasm.

yes, surely she could sue? I'm sure she'd find many people who'd support her if she did

Artichokeleaves: "the increasing number of politically homeless women, reduced to voting for which ever male led, male focused party looks like harming women's rights most slowly and with the least enthusiasm"

Exactly. Situation is even worse in New Zealand, and as for the US, they wouldn't be able to shake off their hypnosis long enough to even hear the problem.

Meanwhile, the staunch Kinder-Kuche-und-Kirche Tories / National / Republicans are the only ones supporting women's need for some separate spaces because it fits with their medieval agenda of keeping women in a box.

/endless screaming/

BingBongSong · 12/08/2021 13:04

I met Rebekah during a Standing for Women meeting. She is funny, witty and great company. Her article is spot on. So sorry and appalled to read that this has happened to her. I haven't voted Labour in the last two general elections and I'm fed up of contacting my (Labour) MP, who always "loses" my communication, then gives some mealy-mouthed pathetic response which hardly even mentions women.

To whomever said that we need to let Labour die and rebuild... regretfully, I think I agree with you.

Jaysmith71 · 12/08/2021 13:14

Well the plan was that Red would gradually give way to Green as the new organising idea that pushed back against rapacious capitalism and inherited wealth & privelige.

That went well.
