I found this thread on twitter utterly astonishing. I always thought when people talked about 'snowflakes' they were being a little bit unkind. But I guess I was wrong? twitter.com/BrydieLK/status/1423639857461612548

The BTP had replied to the thread with their phone number and assurance that they take this sort of thing very seriously.

I saw that - and the fact that it wasn't going well for BTP when other people questioned why various assaults hadn't been investigated but they were so keen to follow up on this Twitter item.

I was surprised that BTP were so willing to follow-up on something that doesn't seem to have taken place on a station or mode of transport - but while walking to the station.

Ps - I've often felt like bursting into tears at Stratford, east London. It is a dystopian hellscape , so I can relate to that part!

CiaoForNiao · 09/08/2021 19:40

I wonder if this poor snowflake was as traumatised by their experience as Karen Whites victims.

beastlyslumber · 09/08/2021 19:42

if you’ve ever read any of those eighteenth century novels that generated the cult of sensibility, there’s exactly the same kind of structuring of morality in direct relation to the acuteness of one’s emotional response.

That's a brilliant insight! Thank you.

Added kudos points if she mentions the Sistine chapel.

We can all be relieved she hasn't fallen victim to the Mexican house thief. Grin

@Abhannmor

I believe only 15% of ppl in the UK x Ireland are on Twitter. Thank fuck. 8% worldwide.**@beastlyslumber**
I think the problem is that the 8% is made up of technocrats, politicians, journalists, activists and others who have a disproportionate influence over society.

We had a long-ish and informative thread about this the other day. It was deleted because "This isn't in the spirit." Maybe this thread will fare better.

dyslek · 09/08/2021 20:04

How desperate do you have to be to make up a stories to gain attention?

Its pritty sad really.

I think this kind of behaviour has always existed, though possibly in years gone by it was only seen in more overtly troubled demographics.

Now posh people with no problems are indulging in it, this probably tells us something.

I do think its people who are limited in their deep thinking, who really really want to have other people help them feel good about themselvs.

dyslek · 09/08/2021 20:07

Twitter seems to have a veil of credibility among the powerful that it does not really deserve.

Why those (already traumatised) women in prison locked up with rapists know nothing of hardship, when compaired to Brydie and her harrowing tale of beig asked to sign a petition.

Yeah MN you're going to have to spell out what was wrong with my personal interpretation about the matter being discussed.

The point being is that there are some people who think they can go straight on the attack with women and instead of choosing not to engage believe they can 'educate' her (tell her she's a liar and she's wrong basically). But instead of being the hero of their own regaling tale, run off crying when women stand up for themselves, claiming victimhood status because of those nasty wimmins.

Bit like what seems to have happened here apparently.

Tanith · 09/08/2021 20:24
  1. Brydie has been in the news before, with similar attention-grabbing headline.
  2. Brydie is a professional storywriter and editor.

Some people have noted both points and drawn their conclusions.

Mrsjamin · 09/08/2021 20:28

Brydie is really good at writing stories.

Tanith · 09/08/2021 20:40

I’m grateful to her. I understand she’s Australian.
The very next time my Aussie friends so much as breathe the words “Whinging Pom”, I shall show them that Tweet Grin

@Mrsjamin

Brydie is really good at writing stories.
Someone upthread described Twitter as fake, but I think some people see it more as a literary genre.
Cottonheadedninymuggins · 09/08/2021 20:58

She also believes prisons should be abolished. twitter.com/BrydieLK/status/1424032835330056200?s=19

🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Cos women as a whole will be so much safer when dangerous murderers/rapists/their domestic abusers et al are released into the community.

Christ 🤦🏻‍♀️
