I would love your thoughts www.tesco.com/zones/every-little-helps Not a TAAT but the James Kirkup article about what people's priorities are in terms of how companies behave. I saw the ad yesterday and realised Tesco had (I think) taken this on board and I hope this means they are moving away from the virtue signalling, rainbow waving shallow advertising and trying to get nearer to what we want.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a bit of a breakthrough
video tesco A little help is…feeding children in our community Advert 2021 • Tesco customers can now help provide millions of meals to feed children this summer and beyond, thanks to a new UK-wide scheme announced today. Currently, 2.3 million children in the UK live in households that have experienced food insecurity in the last six months[i], a situation that has worsened during the pandemic. To help ensure children do not miss out on meals Tesco will make a donation for every piece of fresh fruit and veg bought in its stores from July 19th to August 8th.The three-week campaign aims to provide three million meals for Tesco’s charity partner FareShare to redistribute to charities and local community groups supporting children.

Went to their site and read that they are donating £80,000 to Mermaids this year, though....

OneEpisode · 08/08/2021 10:18

Artemeia are you sure? Tesco would be convenient for me so I’d like to shop there! I can see a 2020 donation but not a 2021 one so I was hopeful…

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 08/08/2021 10:21

Are they still a Stonewall champion?
I left both Tesco and Sainsbury due to mixed sex WC/pronouns/mermaids/the efforts to prioritise such a small %of the population
I now get deliveries from Morrison but I'm not impressed

It's still virtue signalling and still with the ultimate aim of financial gain. They've just jumped on the back of the work Marcus Rashford has been doing.

ArtemesiaK · 08/08/2021 10:25

OneEpisode, sorry, I was looking at the "Pride" bit and didn't notice it was for last year, so carry on shopping! :)

highame · 08/08/2021 10:37

I get the Marcus Rashford bit, but our companies will always bandwagon. What I was interested in, was the controversy of TWAW vs women's rights and has it got through, instead of assuming this was something like gay rights. Are companies are now looking more closely. I do hope so because if Tesco is, you can betya others will. I was wondering about (when more comments are in) of writing to them on a positive note to encourage.

I don't see how this is relevant to what they are doing elsewhere. For me, it will just be as well as rather than instead of the other stuff. It's different campaigns to appeal to different demographics.
