Ok so let’s just say they are right… sex doesn’t matter, I’m a giant ugly TERF. A stupid “cis” transphobe.

I propose to end this debate we allow all men and women to compete together. No more single sex sports ever. Wimbledon will be free for all, the World Cup will consist of men and women, swimming will be mixed races etc etc. Rugby too, let’s just mix it up! Boxing too.

If there is no advantage to the men in sports then we should see equal results. Women could win Wimbledon overall and be the worlds fastest swimmer right? If the theory is true that is…

Why don’t we just test it?

I am frequently reminded of a little story from my youth.

I and my siblings were walking home with the childminder and her children. We stopped and watched a mother duck trailed by several tiny, little ducklings on the dyke. So cute. But, oh no! We spotted a cat on the bank. We children wanted to throw stones at the cat to scare it off. 'It's going to eat the ducklings,' we cried in horror. But the childminder said calmly, 'Well, let's just see what happens.' So we watched the mother duck swim past the cat with her little, tiny ducklings following and we watched the cat swipe the last one out of the water and dash up the bank with it.

I think it's an apt metaphor for the current situation. Maybe we do just have to let this play out so everyone can see, with their own eyes what we all know is going to happen. It's a shame that 'I told you so' is no consolation when there are casualties.

We could always claim a new gender called Actually Fucking Female for those of us with xx chromosomes, and demand all manner of outrageous rights like our own spaces and considerations due to our biology. We could pronounce it like that, but spell it Actually Fxxking Female, as these days we're all about losing vowels and other troublesome, yet random, letters, and shoving an x or two in there.

Because, y'know, "women" just ain't cutting it.

But the prior rents if this madness will say “we have put measures in place to make it fair”. Of course that’s bullshit so I agree with Thomas we will have to let this play out. Over the next few years there will be more and more trans women in more women’s sport and the public will see what bullshit it all is.

I do a sport, not at competitive level. I have been doing this since I was 4. When I was in my mid-20s, a man joined our group. He identified as female. At first, my experience made me better, but after about 6 months, his longer legs, bigger muscles and increased lung capacity made him much better than me. I still had a technical edge, but he could jump higher, turn faster and had more explosive power than I will ever have.

And this is a non-contact sport, where I wasn't at risk of getting hurt.

I will never agree that males should compete against females, apart from equestrian.

Should mix up the prisons too I guess. So rough figures 80k men to 4k women. So 1 woman for 20 men. Seems fair.

I remember a description that seems apt here. When a situation is so shit it's as runny as custard, don't struggle to maintain it. Let it fall out everywhere over everyone. Then it can be cleaned up properly.

I still think, however, that male jockeys hold an advantage of strength over even the best female jockeys. If I had a racehorse that needed really pushing out to the line I would always put a male jockey on no question.

Women in the Olympics have equal or better scores statistically than men only in Equestrian events and 10m Air Rifle.

The former is because the horse is really the athlete and the latter is because the very stiff air rifle outfit means that physical advantages are removed and only athlete precision remains.

Every single other sport -including other precision shooters like pistols, shotgun and archery- statistically show male advantage.

Yep - looking forward to the day when a female that identifies as a man (and is 10 years older then the rest of the field and carrying an injury) turns up in a major men’s boxing, weightlifting or tennis tournament.

Even in equestrianism, there are predominantly more women at the lower levels and then a more equal split at the top. Male physicality and socialisation still plays a massive role.

I think some of the below the line DM comment blokes do. They seem to think think judges must be going light on women - rather than actually, women getting custodial sentences for bloody tv licenses, and very, very few for violent or sexual crimes because women so rarely do them

Loads of men think women's sport is rubbish. Why do they have it on TV,? Yes they like looking at an attractive female tennis player.

But I reckon they'd be ok to lose that. To have sport played by men for men as it should be.

A man on the government Equalities committee said just that.

There are loads more men in prison so more women should go to prison to make it equal.

Well he should be sacked if he really thinks men and women commit crimes at the same rate.

Which women do they want to go to prison in greater numbers? Guessing not the ones with penises.
Making prisons mixed sex is a stupid idea but I suspect the number of male prisoners identifying as women would go right back down.

The thing is, that the people who call us Terfs are arguing from a place where TWAW, so no amount of demonstrable difference between men and women will help - TWAW, some women have penises, what's your point, look - some women are really strong, women rape too, some women are violent. Sadly AsTreesWalking you are exactly correct. The people who throw around 'terf' and 'transphobe' truly believe that Laurel Hubbard et al are women, so this line of reasoning is utterly pointless. Why would we talk about Laurel being bigger and stronger, or genetic differences between men and women. The cognative dissonance seems to allow them to be believe that all sex/genetics based advantages disappear in a puff of magic smoke when a man declares themselves a woman. Reasoning won't work as their reply will be that Hubbard is just a stronger woman...
