Just watching BBC news. They interviewed Fallon Fox who stated that there is no scientific advantage for a transitioned mtf athlete in women’s sports!
This is just so wrong!

You can also complain by phone, I did. All calls are recorded

Rhannion · 02/08/2021 19:01

Please send the bbc an avalanche of complaints using every avenue we can. This is too important to not at least try to hold them to account.

Selkiesarereal · 02/08/2021 19:22

I am absolutely disgusted by this especially getting a sounbite from Fallon Fox.

I will also complain but wondering whether we should contact our MP’s? Mine is utterly useless but don’t know if even Baroness Nicholson would be interested?

WarOnWoman · 02/08/2021 20:10

I've complained about the Tweet. I've complained about the longer interview. I've complained about FF.

PeakBBC.

PamDenick · 02/08/2021 20:44

Hopefully the country (and the world) is peaking now.

HUMANS WHO HAVE BEEN THROUGH MALE PUBERTY HAVE HUGE STRENGTH ( and therefore sporting) ADVANTAGES.
It is not hateful, bigoted or right wing to state that.

Shame on you, BBC.

Complained about the choice and affirmation of FF. I'm sure they could have found someone who doesn't detest the very sex they purport to identify as. Surely?

RoseAndGeranium · 02/08/2021 21:10

I will be complaining too.
Men are not excluded from women’s sport because they do not feel like women or wish to be called women. They are excluded because their bodies are different. It is not a question of gender or identification, but of physical condition. To frame this in terms accepted by TRAs, just as some men are able to give birth and die of ovarian cancer, so some women should get their prostates checked, can produce sperm, and are physically constructed in a way that means they should compete against male bodied people in sports. If this is really about words then fine: do away with ‘women’ and ‘men’ as sporting categories and allow people to compete as XX and XY (and variations).

Konyeshno · 02/08/2021 22:21

I've also made a complaint. In the many years that I've been GC, today has made me more angry and fired up for action than any other. I am incandescent.

Rhannion · 02/08/2021 22:57

As a woman said recently “ it’s not feelings that play sports, it’s bodies”

EyesOpening · 02/08/2021 23:16

I’m really confused now, I can’t seem to find the one with Nicola W on now, wasn’t that the 10am one but the 9am wasn’t available? And now the 10am is but the 9am one isn’t?
And I can’t find my comment earlier this morning, saying which one was unavailable!

PamDenick · 02/08/2021 23:46

I think Nicola from FPFW was on the 10am one, along with Natalie from Pride Sport...
But I maybe wrong...

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 02/08/2021 23:47

No I think it was the 10am that wasn't there.

EyesOpening · 02/08/2021 23:57

I know I watched it this morning then I tried to find the one with FF but the one that I thought it was on, wasn’t available. Maybe it was the 11am they were on then
NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 01:02

10am news BBC 2 was the only item not available for the day when I checked a little earlier.

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 01:04

Still not there

EyesOpening · 03/08/2021 08:52

@PamDenick

The Fallon Fox was a quick sound bite a little earlier.
What do you mean exactly by a sound bite? A little video clip? I want to get my facts right before I complain. I watched Dr Nic and the Pride Sports person and luckily someone has transcribed most of it, so I can refresh my memory from that but I’m unsure of what input FF had
cariadlet · 03/08/2021 08:59

I wonder if the 10 0 clock news has been taken off Iplayer because of complaints about FF. I'm guessing that who ever decided to put that clip in was completely clueless about FF's history.

Selkiesarereal · 03/08/2021 09:20

Thanks for this as I was so enraged by the use of Fallon Fox that I have complained.

I doubt it will do any good but at least they are aware of mine and hopefully many others feelings on this.

mum2jakie · 03/08/2021 09:31

I watched it yesterday morning live on BBC2. The clip with FF was very short - a pre recorded statement and not an interview. It would have aired just after 10am on BBC2. I wasn't aware of their history when I watched yesterday but found this thread as I was watching the same programme.

The longer interview about the topic started at 10.22 am yesterday with the presenter displaying a clear bias towards the second (pro trans) speaker.

Very strange that the entire segment is missing from iPlayer. Hopefully due to the large number of complaints received!

cariadlet · 03/08/2021 09:32

@EyesOpening There was a video, probably a couple of minutes long, of FF talking to camera about the importance of trans women being included in women's sports. The presenter said that FF was a transwoman and former MMA fighter. There was no interaction between the presenter and FF so I assume it was a pre-recorded interview.

Jaysmith71 · 03/08/2021 10:25

"What do you mean exactly by a sound bite? A little video clip? I want to get my facts right before I complain."

At around 10.04 on th3 BBC News Channel on Monday August 2nd 2021, reporter Lucy Hocking in Tokyo interviewed Fallon Fox.

Around half an hour later, presenter Victoria Fritz in the studio conducted the interview with Nicola Williams and paid it off with the comment about how unfair that it was about sex and not feelings.

EyesOpening · 03/08/2021 10:27

Thanks all

EyesOpening · 03/08/2021 10:30

I’m guessing that shortly after I watched Dr Nic & the person after, they must have taken it down, as immediately after, I looking for the one with FF, not realising it was in the same one.

PamDenick · 03/08/2021 13:12

There’s another thread today. An article in The Critic regarding the bias in the BBC.
