Such a sad and frightening story. And sadly probably not all that uncommon.

'1 in 3 American women under 35 say they have been sexually harassed online. Harassment is a particularly prevalent problem for women runners, who often cover long distances alone and with little protection. In a recent Runner's World survey, 84% of women said they have been harassed while running, and a 2017 survey found 43% of women have experienced harassment more than once.

Y'know feminists always get accused of being "man haters" well how about bloody men stop harassing us in the first place.

That's grim.

On a slightly more positive note, I saw this about the US male fencers.

Good that his teammates made that gesture, yes. Unfortunate the reason why they felt moved to do so.

THis is one of those areas where other women can be a problem.

I've raised this matter several times in a number of settings - there is always a woman who pipes up with: I've never had that problem. I wonder what I'm choosing to do differently.

And then there are nods and that ends any possibility of discussion - even when I persist and say, What is it that you think I or other women are doing for it to happen, other than being in that public space?
