A woman has been slashed with a knife at Speakers' Corner in London's Hyde Park, police have said.
The 39-year-old was taken to hospital after the attack on Sunday afternoon at the site, where people gather for public speeches and debates.
The Metropolitan Police said she received a minor slash injury to the head, which was not life-threatening.
Footage shared on social media shows someone dressed in black approaching a woman wearing a Charlie Hebdo T-shirt.

Also look up the views she holds, she's no feminist!

This article gives a background to this woman's hate speech.

Do you have a link Orf1 because I can't see anything other than her being a Christian evangelist, ex Muslim who preaches saying the Koran is false.
Does she hold views about women that are different to other Christians?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 27/07/2021 14:47

Orf1abc I don't care if she is a feminist. Someone went to Speaker's corner with a knife and stabbed her.

Also, weren't you a bit miffed the other night on behalf of a man who wanted to sexually abuse a horse because you thought MN posters were being "transphobic"? Surely I must have you mixed up with someone else. No-one who thinks a woman's words might mitigate a man's actions in stabbing her would expect us to treat an animal abuser with exaggerated courtesy.

Somehow I don't think your 'typo' was that, you seem quite excited discussing her injuries.
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 27/07/2021 14:49

Ah yes, it was you. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/feminism/4305673-woman-arrested-for-attempting-to-get-access-a-horse-for-sexual-act-purposes?pg=2

You need to recalibrate your moral compass.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 27/07/2021 14:54

There are a lot of people in this world who aren't feminists, many of them male.

Who thinks I would get sympathy if I stabbed a man in the pub because he was wearing a misogynistic t-shirt and I knew he had a history of domestic abuse?

RedDogsBeg · 27/07/2021 15:14

Purgatory The things people make excuses for never cease to amaze me. Anyone who says this I bad, I don't condone it BUT..... absolutely does condone it and is making excuses and trying to mitigate it.

NonnyMouse1337 · 27/07/2021 15:18

She has drilled holes in the quran (which is the islamic holy book) and wears a CH tee-shirt and stands in the middle of debates between two people that she isn't involved in and hold that up right to their face.

Doesn't matter. The people being provoked can look away, walk away, complain to the police if they think she is calling for violence against Muslims etc.

People mock Christianity, the Bible, Jesus all the time and don't get stabbed even though Christians feel offended and upset. It's not difficult to refrain from violence. Unless you think Muslims need some special exemption from this because they are incapable of mature responses to such things?

FloralBunting · 27/07/2021 15:25

I don't care if she is a feminist. She is a woman at Speaker's Corner, and there is no justification for attacking her.

Give yer bloody heads a wobble.

Keepemguessing · 27/07/2021 15:31

Just for Orf1. Why women here care about what happens to women like Hutan Tash, even if we don't agree with her politics.

“Feminism is a political practice of fighting male supremacy on behalf of women as a class, including all the women you don't like, including all the women you don't want to be around, including all the women who use to be your best friends whom you don't want anything to do with any more. It doesn't matter who the individual women are.” -- Andrea Dworkin

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 27/07/2021 15:38

Here's a question for the class.

Would the man who stabbed Hatun Tash get a pass from you if he was surprised by seeing this hoodie at the shopping centre and stabbed the youth wearing it?

@Orf1abc

She's an extremist. I don't condone violence in any circumstance, but this was not some random woman exercising her right to free speech, it is a woman who preaches hate and identifies with various other hate preachers.

Is violence wrong? Yes. Is this woman a hero, someone to be idolised? Definitely not.

Where has anybody on this thread said this woman is a hero to be idolised?!

Violence is wrong and unacceptable. Stabbing or slashing or cutting or attacking a woman with a knife is wrong.

If you find yourself ever saying 'violence is wrong BUT' please take a moment to check what you are justifying.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 27/07/2021 22:46

There are activist groups … attempting to incite hatred and divisions between people. I am concerned that we should be cautious not to fall into their traps.

I agree these people may be annoying, Hooda. But that’s not even 1% of an excuse for violence. They have a right to express their irritating views without being assaulted. They — and all other people — have a right to hurt people’s feelings, even though we don’t like them doing that. What no one has is the right to silence people whose views they don’t like.

We do have the right not to be threatened or attacked in any way. Disagreeing with someone, even vehemently, is not an attack.

We’re not falling into their traps by stating that. We are upholding everyone’s human rights.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 27/07/2021 22:48

If you find yourself ever saying 'violence is wrong BUT' please take a moment to check what you are justifying.

A concise point that bears repeating.

In this article from The Critic on this attack contains a reply to an email from the police that is very alarming and along with the response from Prevent regarding the LSE incident shows where the priorities lie

thecritic.co.uk/stabbed-for-critiquing-islam/

"Police think ethnic or religious identification is prejudicial!
A Speakers’ Corner veteran of some 30 years wrote to the police about what is happening there. The email asked whether the Metropolitan Police are “monitoring the activities of the many hot headed Muslim males gathering at the corner every Sunday.” The author writes of witnessing “people of North African, and Middle Eastern origin, physically assaulting other members of the Islamic religion,” and of witnessing “an Islamic male stab a Christian female speaker in the face.”

The police response to this email is deeply shocking. Detective Inspector Akshay Chibber writes:

I have to advise you that your email contains a number of referrals interpretable as prejudicial and intolerant, based on a person’s religious or other origin. Any further correspondence that alludes to such language will not be responded to.

The police therefore consider it prejudicial to refer to a potential criminal’s ethnicity or religion as a means of identification! This is ridiculous pandering to political correctness in ways which could actually prejudice a police investigation. Perhaps it is no surprise that the police have never arrested any of her assailants!"

hoodathunkit · 31/07/2021 11:13

If you find yourself ever saying 'violence is wrong BUT' please take a moment to check what you are justifying.

So it is not OK to state, very clearly, that violence is wrong but to be curious about the wider context?

Many posters here seem to be saying that condemning violence is not enough, in addiiton to condemning the violence we must
a) not be curious about contextual issues
b) not be permitted to discuss of think about contextual issues
c) support the victim because of her sex and the sex of her attacker

and that any diversion from the above is an attempt to shut women up

Which is kind of ridiculous when I am a woman and have been repeatedly told to shut up about my curiosity and thinking about the contextual issues

My opinion, FWIW, is that I will always be curious about WTF is going on when opposing groups of whatever persuasion engage in inciteful behaviour.

This is because I have studied cults, social engineering and active measures.

I find it deeply diisppointing that posters here are attempting to shut down thinking, curiosity and skepticism via an invitation to reductive flag waving.

I support women in general but an no fan of Ann Marie Waters, Marine le Penn and Katie Hopkins, all of whom engage in inciteful and provoking activities.

I would not support any of them being physically assaulted, let alone stabbed, however if wnay of them were to be assaulted I would be naturally curious as to what had really happened, why, and I would be skeptical about accepting unconfirmed reports from people on youtube.

I hesitate to post here because I don't have time to spend hours of my time attempting to discuss important issues with people who seem to want to stop me from thinking, being curious and sharing thoughts.

Finally there are some very serious wider contextual issues to this incident that will become clear with time. I am not going to post about them here but have passed my concerns to groups who will hopefully be in a position to report about them to a wider readership.

In case there are any readers here who have not seen my many posts on the subject but who are curious as to why we should be skeptical about this incident, this short video will provide foundation for further research

dyslek · 01/08/2021 09:57

The Russians did it!
Seriously. Are you being serious with that?
