Have you seen the Big Train gymnast sketch?

AnyOldPrion · 25/07/2021 12:34

Love that, Grimbelina. A more innocent time altogether.

It threw up all sorts of questions here... and DH said you probably wouldn't be able to see this now.

I was watching a montage from the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony the other day - can you imagine the outrage in certain quarters now at the suffragettes and JK Rowling both being showcased as the best of Britain?

The beam was brilliant Smile

That an older man can play this for laughs just shows what they can do.

@Deliriumoftheendless

Have you seen the Big Train gymnast sketch?
And the Monty Python 'Ken Clean-Air System' sketch?

It's on YouTube. Very......interesting.

Are those bars adjusted for individual gymnasts heights? He looks too big for those at the beginning. Because once men want to compete in womens gymnastics, how are they going to take account of the height differences? If the bars have bigger spacing, then obviously that's not fair on women.

Dollpiglet · 25/07/2021 17:01

Maybe they'll move to statistically controlling for all physical variables so it just comes down to whether you want it enough Hmm

Tabasco007 · 25/07/2021 17:16

Thanks for posting , made me laugh 😂 but also highlighted the ridiculous times we are heading too.....

The performance of very stereotypical female presentations/behaviours feel very relevant when we look at some of the language and identification that is now being attached to the attempts to redefine 'woman' (wanting to be one of the 'girls' etc.), and the issues some gymnasts have had with wanting to wear unitards etc. in this Olympics.

The distance between the uneven bars can be adjusted within a range of 1.3 to 1.8 metres apart.
