when I thought the word actress was quietly being dropped.

The BBC has been referring to female actors as, well, actors but now Tommy here is female the word actress is used again.

The performance of femininity (floaty arms, demure glancing at the floor, gazing etherally into the distance) is eye rollingly offensive. I don't do any of that shit, am I womaning wrong?

It's very Eddie Redmayne.

there has been discourse about my body

oh give over who the fuck talks like that? oh yeah, the extremely self indulgent and pretentious

To be fair, that is the male-defined account of 'femininity' though. Is no. 17 of the rules of misogyny that explain how femininity was developed by men to make them horny?

Susan Brownmiller's book 'Femininity' also has something to say about this.

The performance of femininity

I have got zero problem with a man doing that. I've been known to perform a little femininity myself.

The objectionable part is thinking that asking someone to open a jar for you makes you a woman

Deadringer · 24/07/2021 10:53

Actress will probably become a term exclusively for transwomen who act.

@YetAnotherSpartacus

I wonder how male actors will feel doing sex scenes with Tommy.

That black dress really does not work for me.

I wonder how that will work, (presumably) men and women get the option to turn down gay roles with sex scenes if they’re not comfortable with it (without anyone knowing so no cries of homophobia) but how many will be able to know/get a say (maybe the A listers) in who plays their romantic interest and be able to then turn it down once they do know, if they’re uncomfortable with it, without any backlash?

@TinselAngel

Translation: "I want to shag either straight men or men who are prepared to play along with me being a woman"
I'd say the translation is more; Peter Zurkuhlen is a gay man and as such is attracted to men with a male body.

It’s getting to the point where coming out as trans, or dabbling with breast binders in a photoshoot, seems to be the new getting your tits/abs out for a high profile magazine, as far as raising actors’ profiles goes.

Beamur · 24/07/2021 14:59

It's certainly raised Emma Corrins profile.
