Thanks for posting that article - it made for interesting reading 😀 Let’s see if this inspires other female athletes to stand up for their rights to fair competition.

PandorasMailbox · 21/07/2021 01:44

Let's hope it gives courage to other women to stand up and say NO!

Fan bloody tastic!

The Italians, renowned for being the lovers of the world really do know what a woman is, don’t they?

I hope something comes of this.

anon12345678901 · 21/07/2021 06:43

Good for them. They are right to do this, and start challenge it and highlight how grossly unfair it is, I do hope others will follow their lead and not be afraid of the bullies.

JustcameoutGC · 21/07/2021 07:00

Brava!

OhHolyJesus · 21/07/2021 07:22

Well done those women!

Joining together to fight what is fair in the sport they love.

For government ministers to simply not respond at all would imply they are ignoring the petition or they don't know how to respond without looking like misogynistic idiots. Or both.

AlfonsoTheMango · 21/07/2021 07:28

Good for her. I wish her every success.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 21/07/2021 07:41

Good for them. Whatever the government response, it all brings the issue to more people’s notice. Sports fans generally dislike cheats.

highame · 21/07/2021 07:51

It's the only way and it was bound to happen eventually. Well times don't ya think

highame · 21/07/2021 07:51

timed

GonadTheGaul · 21/07/2021 07:52

Good luck to them. The evidence is on their side and, if nothing else, this will make more people see to the appalling unfairness of these policies.

KittenKong · 21/07/2021 08:45

Good for them.
I’m thinking here - all attention on all this stuff. Is this a dead cat - have we been invaded by aliens or something? It’s like some movie from the 70s (they live etc...).

Helleofabore · 21/07/2021 09:13

Great news!!! I look forward to seeing this play out.

Childrenofthestones · 21/07/2021 09:19

Good on 'em

TalkingOutYerArse · 21/07/2021 09:20

Fingers crossed for them.

ScreamingMeMe · 21/07/2021 09:43

Brilliant!

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 21/07/2021 09:55

Good news! The photo, as usual, is very telling.

JoodyBlue · 21/07/2021 10:01

I'm not quite getting the "exclusively out of competition" grammar. What do you all think it means? That TW can participate but not compete?

Helleofabore · 21/07/2021 10:06

I think it is a translation glitch.

The tone of the rest of the article makes it clear what they are going to court for.

Helleofabore · 21/07/2021 10:07

Well… that is how ‘I’ interpreted it Joody. Wink

FannyCann · 21/07/2021 10:08

I thought it must mean that too @JoodyBlue

The last paragraph is a worry as well - proof surely that women just need to train harder....It won't be long before someone adds that to their list of gotchas.

"Sanulli and Neumann continued to train and race, and at the Italian indoor championships in Ancona in March 2021 they had a chance for a rematch. In the 200m indoor race Cristina Sanulli still managed, despite her shorter stature and female body, to beat Petrillo in speed and came first, and Valentina second, despite having all the technical advantages provided by a body that has experienced male puberty: the longer stride, bigger heart, feet and lungs, higher maximum oxygen consumption per muscle contraction (VO2max), stronger tendons, and much more."

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 21/07/2021 10:11

Bloody well done them!! Hope something good comes of them calling out these cheats. Tokyo Olympics is going to be a farce if male born athletes take even one of the medals. I just don’t understand why there hasn’t been an outcry already against male trans athletes competing in and winning women’s medals. When will everyone wake the hell up?!

ArabellaScott · 21/07/2021 10:14

Brilliant. Good luck to these brave women. May many more join them.

FannyCann · 21/07/2021 10:15

The obligatory celebratory group hug gives me the pip too. I'd absolutely refuse to be hugged although I suppose it does give photographic evidence that tells the story very clearly. Hmm

Deliriumoftheendless · 21/07/2021 10:17

I don’t even think it’s about winning for these athletes- I think it’s purely about being in the women’s category which is then seen as proof of their womanhood.
