I wanted to share with you my latest purchase. I have a snow village (miniature ceramic christmas scene) where I buy new little bits every year to embellish it. Today, has arrived a beautiful new piece as shown. I want to think that the artists at Department 56 had the women of Mumsnet in mind when they designed this!

Grin. Very nice!!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 19/07/2021 21:24

If it weren't a snow scene, the only missing item would be a viper. Grin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/07/2021 21:55

That's so lovely!

Binglebong · 19/07/2021 21:56

Nah,the stick thing the one on the right is holding is a viper that's been frozen solid.

Love this @MindYourLanguage

On a lighthearted note……This song from Mary Poppins has always been a favourite of mine. My DD and I sing it together.

We're clearly soldiers in petticoats
And dauntless crusaders for woman's votes
Though we adore men individually
We agree that as a group they're rather stupid!

Cast off the shackles of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our daughters' daughters will adore us
And they'll sing in grateful chorus
"Well done, Sister Suffragette!"

From Kensington to Billingsgate
One hears the restless cries!
From ev'ry corner of the land:
"Womankind, arise!"

Political equality and equal rights with men!
Take heart! For Missus Pankhurst has been clapped in irons again!
No more the meek and mild subservients we!
We're fighting for our rights, militantly!
Never you fear!

So, cast off the shackles of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our daughters' daughters will adore us
And they'll sing in grateful chorus
"Well done! Well done!
Well done Sister Suffragette!"

I love the juxtaposition of it with Mr. Bank's song.

MindYourLanguage · 19/07/2021 22:54

The stick the one on the right is holding is the 19th amendment victory flag - but I have been known to make changes to the figures. A viper could be the perfect addition!

Ah, thanks @MrsOvertonsWindow for the link. I could watch this all day long. When my 10 yr old DD and I watch it, she seems to really get it, acting out the “our Daughters Daughters will adore us” with much clutching of chest and dramatic show. We’re very easily pleased.

@MindYourLanguage Im going to order this ready for winter, it’s adorable. Thanks for the thread.

At the women's march in Edinburgh a few years ago some women had a banner saying "Your daughters' daughters DO adore you". I loved that.

Sister Suffragette was the inspo for my username, I sing it with DS, fist pumping, heart clutching actions and all!

Love the figurines @MindYourLanguage You'll need to show us it on Christmas in 158 days time when it's all set up Grin
