For bringing such spectacular sunlight to this toxic issue.
Always.

@poshme

James Kirkup on Twitter has done a good thread on this.

'Ever find yourself thinkIng “Hmm, this trans debate is so complicated - I just don’t know who’s right”?
Well here’s a tip: the people sending death threats to a women who survived domestic abuse because she said something they didn’t like - those aren’t the good guys.'

I really like that and it is so very true.

Thanks to JKR Star Star

Another FWR Lurker here.

Jo, thank you for being you and using your platform so bravely.

Thanks

@Jackgrealishscurtains

She is brilliant, and is just slowly opening the curtain to allow the sunlight to stream in.

I notice the likes of Owen Jones, Ash Sarkar and Jameela Jamil have nothing to say about her latest tweets. Ya know, all these people who are so sure that JK is wrong and they are on the 'right side of history'....

Surely they'd want to condemn any threats made to a woman standing up for our rights.....
Waitwhat23 · 20/07/2021 11:42

JKR could have stayed silent on women's rights. She could have looked at the bile towards women from TRA's and decided not to make herself a target. She didn't have to get involved but she did. To speak for those of us suffering from the chilling effect, who can't speak up.

Because the fact that they can't get JKR sacked, or reduce her book sales, or deplatformed must stick in TRA's craws. So they predictably turn to rape and death threats, showing themselves for the women haters they are.

The celebrities fawning over TWAW stay silent because there's no way to justify threats like that. As this whole shit show dies down and normalcy returns due to sunlight, they will continue to stay silent, as they won't be able to admit to themselves that they aligned themselves with people who utterly depise women.

Waitwhat23 · 20/07/2021 11:45

And in the slim chance that JKR is reading this, thank you.

Whatthechicken · 20/07/2021 12:53

I think she’s amazing. So cool and calm, yet still manages to get attention focussed on the very root of the matter. As other PPs said…she could have stayed quiet, she could have not spoken out. I think we are all a little braver because of JKR. I hope she sees this thread…she has a legion behind her.

theculture · 20/07/2021 12:59

Thank you JKR

And no I am not right wing, religious , I strongly believe in gay rights, I am pro choice, people should be kind but with all of this men are not women

TheSlayer · 20/07/2021 13:38

Thank you for bringing light and hope to women everywhere.🌞🌞🌞
Who would have thought that women as a sex class have a patronus that takes the form of a talented children's author?
Expecto Patronum! 🤍💜💚🦌🧙

SelfPortraitWithEels · 20/07/2021 13:47

She is an utterly brilliant, brave, generous woman - thank God for her and her ilk. (And indeed her ink, thanks, autocucumber.)

Flowers to you if you're reading this!

Megasausagehead · 20/07/2021 14:25

What I appreciate, amongst other things, about JKR, is that I can encourage anyone to read her essays and see the starting point. It opens the debate others are so keen to shut down.

Keep being you.

MrsJuliaGulia · 20/07/2021 14:29

If anyone is on the right side of history it is JK Rowling. I’d suggest to all the woke folk that we erect a statue of her.
What would the braying mob make of that.

I wonder if JK Rowling has any idea of the good she has done for Women. I really hope she does.

picklemewalnuts · 20/07/2021 14:43

We definitely need a JKR statue!

Where are the watchers? They're very quiet today...

blublub · 20/07/2021 14:46

Thanks jk!

PrincessNymeria · 20/07/2021 14:50

Thank you Joanne Rowling!

"Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open."

Fuck misogyny and toxic masculinity.

CatChant · 20/07/2021 14:53

Marvellous, courageous, inspirational woman. Thank you always, JKR. Your reasoned, compassionate words are a breath of hope and sanity.

Right, time to buy the kids another fancy hardback edition Harry Potter to add to their collection. Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 20/07/2021 14:58

Yes - well done you wonderful uncancellable woman!

I'm a teacher now on school holidays and have finally been able to get stuck into Troubled Blood - suspect I'll have finished it by tomorrow. Looking forward to the next one so don't let the misogynists distract you from writing too much Wink

334bu · 20/07/2021 14:58

Thank youFlowers

TedImgoingmad · 21/07/2021 15:09

Mermaids involved again, do they never learn? They got a lot of pushback, which is good to see.

Good analysis from Andrew Doyle:

(Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. Not been on MN much lately)

DrSbaitso · 21/07/2021 17:25

And remember she had to fudge her gender to get her books published.

Joanne, you bring magic to the world.
