How can the man be so tinned eared. After the anger with his Pink News piece to camera comes this. He still has not met with Lesbian Labour or LabourDeclaration.

Keir Starmer is a charisma void with a string of cold spaghetti where his spine should be.

mollythemeerkat · 20/07/2021 11:28

floral - am enjoying the cold spaghetti image.

PronounssheRa · 20/07/2021 11:42

All I see here is one white man, meeting with a bunch of other white men. Hmm

Same as it ever was.

Starmer is a weathervane politician, I naively expected more from him

ChristinaXYZ · 20/07/2021 12:19

I never thought Starmer would ever be elected PM but I thought he might clean up the party enough to provide a base for someone we have never heard of to come through the ranks. This by Konstantin Kisin on twitter nails him:

"Not a word from Starmer about vaccine passports.

British politics now is like watching a football team that's 5:0 up and is so bored they're doing their best to score an own goal but can't because the opposition's captain keeps clearing it off the line."

It is not that I think x or y about the passports but I would like to know at least what the leader of the opposition thinks, he might have said but it does not cut through. On this on so many other subjects. The only think I am sure of is he does not back women or lesbians who are fighting for their rights; he does not back women in his party who disagree with him; he is no supporter of women's rights to speech. He can make that cut through alright, so the vagueness on everything seems policy.

Starmer is hopeless.

I had high hopes as he was good on rape back in the day. Very good.

Sadly.

He's got no charisma at all. I don't enjoy listening to him, he doesn't engage me at all. He displays zero passion. Or indeed any other emotions.

In fact he's so dull I tune out to the extent I often don't even know what he's talking about.

There is no need for any politician to state a position on niche and very involved and fighty issues. He's a lawyer FFS. I'm sure he could divert, give a non answer etc etc.

Getting a photo opp with a bunch of men one in drag for pride? Why???
Again there's no need.
They are haemorrhaging support left right and centre. If he had any sense he'd have his pics with eg Jewish people in n London saying sorry and shaking hands. Smiling over a cup of tea with women and kids. In hosps in high covid areas being concerned and doing labour NHS policies. Going to areas with huge poverty and meeting listening to people in food banks etc. People who have lost their jobs. People struggling with UC apps.

Talking to people in areas with high levels of recent immigrants and finding out what they need.

Pushing on the appalling rape stats which I would fucking well EXPECT from him given his past. It's a long term concern of his fgs.

AND

IF he is doing all this stuff.
I watch news at 10 both BBC and c4 newsnight and question time .
Also check into al Jazeera from time to time.

If he is doing these things then why do I not know? Not getting press interest- why not? Where's the or strategy?

All I know is he met a bunch of blokes to do with pride. And one of the blokes was ? a drag queen. He must know how that will look to plenty of the people he should be focussing on. Just fucking appalling. Even just in the sense of, surely there are a fuck load of really massively huge things going on that labour used to prioritise.

NiceGerbil · 20/07/2021 22:29

I mean FFS.

Loads of families needing food banks etc.
Mental health.
Covid meaning delayed diagnoses for serious conditions.
Deadline for EU people to apply for UK residence.
Cladding scandal, why are the manufacturers etc being taken to court? We know they lied? What about Westminster council ignoring warnings? Etc etc

I mean I could go on for hours. This is fucking bread and butter stuff for labour. NHS. Poverty. Ordinary people having to correct terrible actions by big business....

It's a shitshow.

And momentum. The purging of dissenters. Internal infighting. Etc etc. It's the fucking 80s with radical tendency / loony left all over again. I just about remember it... I think this is worse. They have totally forgotten everything they have always stood for.

DdraigGoch · 20/07/2021 23:19

@ArtemesiaK

Can LGBTQ+ still be called a community? I'm not a member myself so not in the know. If I were, apart from being associated with the hateful aggressive attitudes of TWAs, it would upset me no end to be represented by Widow Twankey from Aladdin.....
There's no such thing as the "LGBTQ community". Just like there's no such thing as the "Asian community". Such sweeping generalisations give all of the power to a small number of self-appointed busybodies and do not recognise the diversity of the people being talked about.
highame · 21/07/2021 08:24

ArtemesiaK I shouldn't but 😂

One of the reasons I've tuned out is that Labour got used to just opposing and not giving good arguments. Also, a lot of people dislike a lot of the TU's and how they behave (one of my massive bugbears). KS doesn't have the backing of the unions and KS doesn't have the resilience to take on the factions in the party that are bringing it to its knees.

Labour says it's progressive but I really need an explanation as to what their progressive is, because I don't think it's the same as mine

merrymouse · 21/07/2021 08:34

I don’t disagree with what anyone has said on this thread about Starmer, but isn’t the Labour Party’s biggest problem the party membership?

Maybe we should all be joining?

merrymouse · 21/07/2021 08:35

I'm not a member myself so not in the know.

Surely you must be! I don’t think anyone is excluded.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/07/2021 08:53

Starmer is hopeless.

Sadly.

I feel exactly the same, and have the same disappointment, NiceGerbil

Denying biological reality to placate the fantasies of the trans-lobby is modern day Lysenkoism and science-denial

That's a good comparison with Lysenkoism - a stupid ideological belief that set Soviet biological science back 50 years. People who said, 'but hang on, what about chromosomes?' were arrested, sacked, imprisoned and killed.

In the real world, the consequences also included mass starvation, as this pseudoscience was applied to agriculture in the USSR and China.

It took till well after the death of Stalin for scientists to eventually be able to speak freely.

merrymouse · 21/07/2021 09:07

Getting a photo opp with a bunch of men one in drag for pride? Why???

Because the person planning his diary could make the logistics work?

Starmer manages to make ‘quiet bat people’ sound like a dynamic stroke of political genius.

bellinisurge · 21/07/2021 09:15

Pale. Male. Stale. He's an interim leader after the Corbyn disaster. I had hopes for him. I don't really like Andy Burnham but I'd accept him if he got back to Westminster politics. In Manchester area and, despite my misgivings and odd disagreement, he's doing ok.
Obviously Yvette Cooper would be the best choice.

Jackgrealishscurtains · 21/07/2021 10:53

This is another prime example of Labour not necessarily actively hating women, but women just not even being on their radar. Women are just not important enough to care about at all. Some of the comments from the misogynistic beardy wokie blokeys on the thread are the same as well. Women just don't matter a shite to these people, it's so depressing.

NiceGerbil · 22/07/2021 01:52

I was keen on Corbyn until.. I wasn't!

At least he had passion. At least he was what I recognise as labour values in some areas at least. Or at least ones I agree with!

I liked the reading out things from constituents. First time he did it Tories were wtf. Totally confused and wrong footed. That was fab!

In the end though his personal beliefs over rode doing what was best for the party. Not s leader. Excellent in his constituency I have no doubt.

Kier is just like listening to. I dunno. If a beige wall could speak. Hopeless.

pollypocketlover · 22/07/2021 22:52

The tweet has been deleted, did anyone screenshot it?

NiceGerbil · 22/07/2021 23:17

Still there for me and an additional photo as a bonus!

NiceGerbil · 22/07/2021 23:19

Been there done that.

Their majority of funding comes from the unions anyway as does their membership.

DH job automatically took subs for labour and I think joined him up when he started.

He didn't realise. I suspect that happens a fair bit.

2Rebecca · 23/07/2021 10:09

He was a better choice than the 3 women once they said being a woman was just about identifying as one. They would have thrown women's rights and spaces away as fast as they could by agreeing to the extremist pledge
