The total fucking irony of this is that Tasmania is a redneck homophobic state, in a pretty redneck homophobic country (I lived there for 30 years, I know the place). Or rather, lesbophobic. Gay men are acceptable now in Australia if they're funny & camp & cute.
But the arguments and the misogyny and lesbophobia rampant in the Sydney Mardi Gras organisation when I lived in Sydney in the 1980s was unbelievable.
And in Tasmania, lesbophobia also rampant (just listen to Hannah Gadsby), together with homophobia. So this move to "inclusion" is just grandstanding.
But basically, Australia is a misogynist's paradise. Think about why some of the most kick ass feminist come from there - Germaine Greer, Carmen Calil ...
